NEW YORK, NY, March 22, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Soul Science Lab headlines BAM's annual spoken word and poetry celebration, Poetry 2017: Word. Sounds. Power! with a family-friendly concert celebrating the power of spoken-word on April 1st at BAM at 2pm.
Innovative afro-futuristic griots, Chen Lo and Asante' Amin, known collectively as Soul Science Lab (http://soulsciencelab.com), return to BAM to perform a special curated big band hip-hop concert. The daytime concert, titled "Get Up, Stand Up!" (http://bam.org/getupstandup) will stretch the consciousness and various creative aesthetics in and around hip-hop and spoken word and celebrate the inherent radical nature of spoken word for a younger audience.

This year's featured poets include The Peace Poets, OSHUN, Lady Logic, Frank Waln DJs and student poets, under the direction of Baba Israel and hosted by by BAM's own, Mikal Amin. Other acts include DJ Reborn, musician YAKO 440 and a dance performance of NUU Knynez.
Soul Science Lab's concert will be held on Saturday, April 1st at 2pm at BAM Fisher, 321 Ashland Place Brooklyn, NY 11217. Doors open at 1pm. Show begins at 2pm. A MetLife Meet the Composer award winner, Amin is a musical director ahead of his time.
Chen and Asante's music have been featured on several popular Black & Sexy TV web series. Most recently, the duo was featured in TheRoot.com's Black History Month series, celebrating the music and legacy of music of the African diaspora.
