WASHINGTON, DC, April 10, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Women in Government (WIG) a national nonprofit, nonpartisan membership organization representing female state legislators since 1988, today announced that Lucy Gettman has been appointed Executive Director. The selection was made by the Board of Directors of Women in Government.
Gettman joined WIG from the National School Boards Association, a federation of fifty state school boards associations, where she served since 2009, most recently as Chief Advocacy Officer. Gettman brings deep legislative and organizational leadership experience, having served as director of government relations for the Reading Recovery Council of North America, and holding professional positions at the Ohio House of Representatives, Ohio Attorney General's office, and the Inter-University Council of Ohio. She holds a leadership role in Women in Government Relations, an organization of government relations professionals. Gettman also teaches courses on women and political leadership at American University, where she received the Alice Paul Faculty Award in 2014.
