American Health Council Names Dennis Metzger, Ph.D. to Education Board

    NEW YORK, NY, April 11, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. Dennis Metzger, Professor and Department Chair at Albany Medical Center, has been selected to join the Education Board at the American Health Council. He will be sharing his knowledge and expertise in Immunology and Animal Models of Respiratory Viral and Bacterial Infections.

Dr. Metzger has been active in the healthcare industry for the last 30 years. He obtained his PhD from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 1978. Dr. Metzger has been in his current role at Albany Medical Center for the last 17 years. His responsibilities are dedicated to immunology, prophylactic and therapeutic responses to respiratory infections, and strategies for effective host defense against potential biothreat agents.

Dr. Metzger is an elected Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS). He has received multiple research grants from foundations, industry groups, and the National Institutes of Health (NIH), sat on multiple federal and academic advisory committees, served on over 50 NIH grant review study sections, peer reviewed over 450 research manuscripts, and published over 150 research papers in peer-reviewed journals. Dr. Metzger has also been appointed to multiple journal editorial boards and invited to speak at several national and international scientific meetings. He is a member of The American Association of Immunologists, American Society for Microbiology, Clinical Immunology Society, Society for Mucosal Immunology, and Infectious Diseases Society of America.

Dr. Metzger's long-term goals include continuing to build a successful research program in host-pathogen interactions.
