Communications Executive Michael Mitcham Launches New Book, Ahead in the Count, at the Barnes & Noble Author's Event

Detroit Native, Michael Mitcham shares leadership lessons from his new book, "Ahead in the Count: One Baseball Fan's Guide to Career and Life Success" at the Barnes & Noble Author's Event on Sunday, April 23 at Fields Ertel in Cincinnati.

Like my dad, I've been a lifelong fan of the Detroit Tigers. While I've never played the game professionally, you don't have to know a thing about baseball to understand my story.

CINCINNATI, OH, April 14, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Local author and telecommunications executive Michael Mitcham happens to know a thing or two about baseball. He also knows that excelling in baseball is a lot like winning in everyday life - and he lets you in on a few secrets in his new inspirational book titled "Ahead in the Count: One Baseball Fan's Guide to Career and Life Success." Using an analogy of baseball and the Detroit Tigers, his story is one of success against the odds and of rising above a childhood rooted in urban upheaval and social turmoil. It's also a story of leadership, encouragement and a pure love for baseball, America's great unifier.

Meet Mitcham in person during The Author's Event book signing at Barnes & Noble - Fields Ertel in Cincinnati on Sunday, April 23, 2017. He'll sign copies of "Ahead in the Count" starting at 11:00 AM, and offer words of encouragement from a life well lived and well learned.

As a mentor, role model, husband and father of three adult children, Mitcham shares wisdom and experience from his own life, with chapter titles such as "Life Is a Team Sport," "Play Through the Pain" and "Every At-Bat Is a New Chance." He also reminds us that there's no single way to success; we all get there in our own way. The important thing is to always bring your "A" game, keep your eye on the ball, run your fastest and slide if you must!

"It's satisfying to hit that perfect pitch in the sweet spot and knock one out of the park. It's much less so to get on base because the pitches aren't hitting the strike zone." Michael continues, "A walk isn't a failure to hit; it's another way to advance. Never stop competing."

Michael Mitcham grew up in Detroit, MI and earned a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Michigan State University, as well as a Master of Business Administration from Northern Illinois University. After three decades in the telecommunications industry, Mitcham is now a senior network engineering and operations executive at Charter Communications in Cincinnati, OH.
