HOUSTON, TX, April 28, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The Greater Houston Women's Chamber of Commerce (GHWCC) welcomed over 1,000 business leaders to celebrate their 10th anniversary at the Annual Greater Houston "No Limits" Conference for Women, on Thursday, April 20, at the Westin Galleria Hotel, 5060 W. Alabama.
Suzan Deison, GHWCC CEO/President/Founder commented on the GHWCC 10th Anniversary: "I am most proud of the fact that we are a catalyst for change, and we are making the world a better place for women. Truman Bell, ExxonMobil received the honor of being named "Man of the Year", an award presented for the first time. Bell was recognized for his many years promoting the advancement of women at ExxonMobil, as well as women in many non-profit organizations. During the breakfast, the Kathryn S. Stream Award winners were announced: Abeena Brewster, MD, MHS, UT MD Anderson Cancer Center, and Terri Woodard, Assistant Professor, UT MD Anderson Cancer Center.
Accenture and Morgan Stanley took home the 2017 Diversity Leadership Awards for their commitment to diversity in the workplace.
Other highlights included: Twelve deserving students from six Houston area school districts were presented GHWCC scholarships to attend the Texas college of their choice. Seven third grade students representing Wharton Dual Language Academy, who are also enrolled the GHWCC STEAM Town USA program opened the Conference with their outstanding performance.
Conference proceeds benefit the GHWCC's programs of work that promotes the advancement of women.
