KING OF PRUSSIA, PA, May 05, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The winter season can seriously take its toll on your automobile, both in terms of appearance and its inner workings. While most of us use these longer and warmer days to clean up around the house, we're here to remind you that it is also a perfect time for a bit of spring cleaning and routine maintenance for your car!
Once spring comes in and we move past the last snow of the season, take a trip to the car wash. This doesn't only make your car pretty again, but it helps get rid of all the dirt and salt that has been accumulating for the past few months. Road salt and other chemicals used by road crews in the winter are a catalyst for rust, which can be quite expensive to repair!
Next up, you are going to want to make sure that your engine's cooling system is running as it should. As the weather starts to get warmer it is important to make sure your radiator and engine's cooling system is properly filled. Improper cooling levels and leaks can occur if your cars rubber hoses or cooling components are old and/or weak so it's a good idea to check those as well.
While we are on the topic of cooling fluids and components, now seems like a good time to go ahead and check all the other fluid levels under the hood. Have a look at the brake, power steering, and transmission fluid levels. Make sure they are up to par and if it has been a particularly long time since the last inspection, you may want to consider flushing the fluid altogether if the fluid levels seem extra dirty.
Make sure your air conditioning system is in working order before rolling into summer. If you happen to live in a warmer climate, it may already feel like summer and you don't want to be stuck in traffic with a broken A/C system. It's important not to skimp on these types of repairs because they can greatly affect your quality of life during the hotter seasons.
The beginning of spring is also an optimal time for getting around to whatever miscellaneous tasks you haven't had the time for, like detailing the interior or replacing windshield wiper blades.
Last but not least, it's time to check in on your tires. Check all four of your tires for wear and tear, make sure the treads aren't damaged in any way. Don't forget to check your tire pressure regularly. Make sure you keep them inflated to the correct PSI level.
When it comes down to it, just remember that your car is a huge investment and liability. Following proper vehicle maintenance and keeping an eye on how your car is running with a bit of preparation will keep you ahead of the game and ready to roll right into summer with a healthy automobile.
