The Johnson O'Connor Research Foundation Elects New President

    NEW YORK, NY, May 12, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Anne Steiner was elected president of the Johnson O'Connor Research Foundation by a unanimous vote of the board of trustees at the annual meeting at its Boston office on April 26, 2017. Ms. Steiner succeeds David Ransom, who served as president since 2003.

She is the first female president in the foundation's nearly century of existence. Johnson O'Connor, the founder of the not-for-profit scientific and educational research foundation, espoused the cause of empowering women in the workplace. His wife, Eleanor Manning O'Connor, was an architect and lecturer at a time when fewer women ventured into the world of work. He considered women to be a huge untapped workforce and a great source of unused potential.

Mr. O'Connor, who passed away in 1973, would have been thrilled by Ms. Steiner's election to the post of president. Rising up through the ranks of test administrator, aptitude consultant, and Seattle laboratory director during her twenty years with the Foundation, Ms. Steiner, a Williams College graduate, was elected to the position of secretary in 2015. As secretary, she was instrumental in forming and chairing a committee to develop a five-year plan for the growth and expansion of the individual testing centers and the Foundation as a whole, and in her new role as president will be able to execute that plan.

According to Ms. Steiner, "I believe strongly in the work we do here at the Foundation and am honored to have the opportunity to lead it into the future."

The Johnson O'Connor Research Foundation, Inc., is a non-profit research organization with two primary commitments: to study human abilities and to provide people with knowledge of their aptitudes that will help them make career and educational decisions. Begun in 1922 at General Electric, the Foundation has been an independent organization since 1939.
