ORANGE, CA, May 17, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- More than 40 million adults in the U.S. experience some form of mental health issue in a given year, according to the National Alliance on Mental Illness, that equates to approximately one of every four individuals nationwide. To help address and provide resources on the wide range of challenges related to mental health for Southern California residents, St. Joseph Hospital in Orange will host a free mental health fair in their Zoul Auditorium on Saturday, May 20 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., and cover an assortment of topics.
Topics to be addressed at the event include:
- 8am - 9am | "What therapy options are available?" - Alternative Brain Therapies
o Siri De Silva, MD
- 9am - 10am | "What does marijuana do to the brain?" - Substance abuse update
o Ashraf Ismail, MD
- 10am - 11am | "What does the research say?" - Current research in severe mental illness
o David Walsh, PsyD, ABPP
- 11am - 12noon | "What helps with focus problems?" - Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder
o Jon Chaffee, MD
Refreshments will be served during each session, and attendees will have access to booths with resources and mental health experts capable of sharing more information. Individuals experiencing mental health difficulties, and friends or family members of those who may need information and direction are encouraged to attend the free event.
