CHESTERFIELD, MO, May 20, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- ABC Chefs Cooking Academy will be holding multiple weeks of various summer camps at their location in Chesterfield Mall beginning Mon., June 5.
Each camp will feature a special themed menu each week from Mondays through Thursdays during the summer and is open to children between the ages of five and 17. The camps feature both a morning session, which runs between 8:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., and an afternoon camp, which lasts between 1 and 5 p.m. Attendees will explore international and national cuisine, prepare mouth-watering recipes, and learn about world geography, health, culture, math, science, and literature.
Students will also have the chance to cook with Ayla Destiny from season three of MasterChef Junior at each camp. A St. Louis native, Chef Ayla has been assisting with camps since she was seven years old but has been recently acting as a lead instructor.
The camps are listed as follows:
·Week 1, Mon., June 5 - Thurs., June 8: This camp, called Welcome to Italy, will revolve around Italian food including a variety of cheeses, breads, pasta, and pizza.
·Week 2, Mon., June 12 - Thurs., June 15: Called Bakeshop Favorites, this camp will focus on making fresh breads, cookies, cakes, and other savory treats. Students will learn new baking techniques from creaming butter and sugar for gooey butter cookies to kneading dough for cinnamon buns.
·Week 3, Mon., June 19 - Thurs., June 22: If your child wants to learn how to become an Iron Chef, then this week is perfect for him or her. Called Iron Chef Camp - Food Truck Week, students will learn new techniques that mirror those demonstrated on favorite shows. The camp will also feature mystery baskets, team challenges, taste tests, and judging.
·Week 4, Mon., June 26 - Thurs., June 29: Students will explore some of the greatest international dishes during this camp, which is called Foods Around the World. This week will focus on exciting flavors and new twists on old favorite recipes.
·Week 5, Mon., July 5 - Thurs., July 8: This camp, called Travel the USA, is sold out.
·Week 6, Mon., July 10 - Thurs., July 13: Called Food Network Favorites, this camp will center around different Food Network chefs and shows, including Iron Chef, Chopped, Cupcake Wars, and more.
·Week 7, Mon., July 17 - Thurs., July 20: Students will be challenged during this camp, called Mystery Basket, as they learn recipes and compete to see who is the Top Chef.
·Week 8, Mon., July 24 - Thurs., July 27: This camp, called Bakeshop Favorites, is sold out.
·Week 9, Mon., July 31 - Thurs., August 3: The final week of camp will finish with Iron Chef Camp, which will allow students to show off their skills and learn new techniques. There will be mystery baskets, team challenges, taste tests, and judging throughout the week.
The cost for one day of camp is $65, and a week of camp costs $189. Registration costs $25 for each child and can be completed online. Early registration is currently available and encouraged since camps fill up quickly. In addition, parents will need to fill out and bring a summer camp enrollment and emergency medical form on the first day of camp.
Aprons are available for use, or students can bring their own.
