NEW YORK, NY, June 04, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Chauncey Lufkin, Founder and Principal of The Chauncey F. Lufkin III Foundation, sponsored a table of ten at the 2017 Robin Hood Annual Benefit on May 15, 2017. The event, which raised a total of $54.5 million dollars to support the fight to alleviate poverty in New York City, was held at the Jacob Javitz Center. It is one of the largest fundraisers in the country, for any cause.
To accomplish its work, the Robin Hood Foundation provides grants and management assistance to nonprofits, seeds new ventures and facilitates partnerships to work on issues like homelessness, job training and education.
"This event, which is so beautifully orchestrated each year, is just extraordinary. The energetic performances, pale only in comparison to the caliber of efforts made by this organization to eradicate poverty in our great city. It is my honor and privilege to be a donor of Robin Hood. Being a part of this Robin Hood family of donors, having the chance to get to know its unparalleled staff, and being able to witness change in the making is simply remarkable," said Chauncey F. Lufkin III, Founder of The Chauncey Lufkin III Foundation.
Miley Cyrus, surprised the audience with a short performance and debuted a song called "Inpired." Coldplay's Chris Martin and Jonny Buckland capped off the evening with a 45-minute set, which included such crowd favorites as "Fix You", "Paradise", "Rule the World" and "Yellow."

Celebrity supporters also in attendance were Michael Douglas, Katie Couric, Alex Rodriguez, Jennifer Lopez, and Eli Manning.
"This room is a reminder that we can actually do this, which is alleviate poverty," said Wes Moore, the new chief executive of Robin Hood.
"There are enough people who care, who are generous, who are doing the work...I stand here today because people saw something in me before I was ready to see it in myself," Moore said from the stage.
