Building Meaningful Lives: Chauncey F. Lufkin III Renews His Foundation's Support of Milken Institute as Member of the President's Circle, Attends 20th Annual Global Conference

    LOS ANGELES, CA, June 04, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Renewing his Foundation's longtime support for the Milken Institute at the President's Circle level, Chauncey F. Lufkin III attended the organization's 20th Annual Global Conference. The theme this year was "Building Meaningful Lives." The 4-day event, which draws thought-leaders, dignitaries and newsmakers from around the world, was held at The Beverly Hilton, from April 30-May 3, 2017.

The Santa Monica-based Milken Institute, an affiliated organization of the Milken Family Foundation, is a non-profit, non-partisan think tank whose goal is to increase global prosperity so more people have access to money and other assets, jobs and improved health.

On the eve of the Global Conference, Mr. Lufkin also participated in the Institute's annual "Global Gourmet Games," a spirited trivia-oriented event that raised more than $3 million for the Milken Institute's FasterCures initiative, which is dedicated to eliminating roadblocks to medical progress.

During the Conference, Lifestyles magazine interviewed Mr. Lufkin, along with other prominent conference attendees and participants. His interview, which addressed the intersection of philanthropy and venture investing, will appear in an upcoming issue of the bi-monthly philanthropy magazine. Lifestyles, which has been in publication for almost five decades, profiles leaders in high engagement philanthropy. The magazine's governing board is comprised of notable members of the philanthropic community, including Melissa A. Berman, Robert D. Hormats, Ron S. Lauder, and David Saltzman.

In addition to the main conference, an inaugural steering committee of a new effort entitled Meaningful Influencers, was held in Beverly Hills on April 29, 2017. Foundation Director Cara Familet participated in the day-long brainstorming sessions.

Meaningful Influencers is a new platform for higher philanthropy. The inaugural steering committee brought together a cross-section of thought leaders and change makers across the continents for an extraordinary immersive experience.

The group's stated purpose is "to bring alignment and collaboration on the most pressing issues of our time with rapid, effective collaboration, quick decision making and targeted deployment of ideas and resources." This year the group's primary focus is oriented towards playing a role in assisting the fulfilment of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals set forth by the United Nations. Following the conference, Ms. Familet coordinated a meeting between Shalom Elcott and Tal Ronen of the YK Center and key members of the UNDP and UNOPS community, in order to facilitate the group's efforts to create meaningful impact.

During that visit, a Meaningful Influencers delegation comprised of Familet, Elcott, Ronen and Patricia Lambrecht attended a screening at the United Nations of the documentary "Rooted in Peace," by filmmaker Greg Reitman, and contributors Fabien Cousteau and Laura Turner Seydel.
