Susan Peterson, Ph.D. Honored for Excellence in Public Service

    MANHATTAN, KS, June 08, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Susan Peterson, Director of Government Relations of Kansas State University has been recognized for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in higher education.

Susan Peterson celebrates a distinguished career in public service for the state government. She has served as a member of the staff of Kansas' government office since 1989, and she has also served the direct state and federal government relations office for the president of Kansas State University for more than 25 years.

In looking back, Dr. Peterson prepared for her career by learning from university students and faculty, and by paying close attention to the issues that concerned higher education. Additionally, she felt that it was difficult, as a woman, to rise through the ranks of the male-dominated Kansas legislature. Despite her challenges, Dr. Peterson persevered and now looks back on a career that has been filled with achievements.

Chief among Dr. Peterson's accomplishments was being approved for funding for the new library at Kansas State University. While funding any project is important, this facility will serve as a concrete reminder of her hard work and dedication, and it will provide invaluable service to students for years to come.

Dr. Peterson earned a Ph.D. in education from Kansas State University, as well as a Master of Science in public administration from the University of Kansas.
