With over 30 years in the oil business as a geologist, David Allard takes you on a wild worldwide adventure. From the oil patch of Midland Texas, to Houston, around the world and back to the USA.
TULSA, OK, June 29, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The oil and gas industry has been presented in both positive and negative ways. David Allard shares a pro-oil and gas business description while recounting various "you were there" cultural observations, historical events, challenges and occasional humor in his book, "A World of Culture Oil and Golf".
This insightful geologist started keeping journals of his adventures during his first trip to Turkey after an unusual encounter on a drive to a remote mountain well site. Over more than two decades, he compiled 14 journals during a variety of assignments, business trips and overseas postings while working in more than 20 different countries. His observations of how the international oil business works, the political changes and security risks in various countries, are the basis of this book. There is time for humorous situations and to play the occasional round of golf - even where the caddies don't speak English.
"A World of Culture Oil and Golf" is an easy-to-read first-person account of what it's like to be an insider traveling the globe and navigating the amazing array of locales and personalities involved in exploring for and obtaining oil, the most valuable commodity mankind has ever traded. David Allard writes and behaves as the friendly American who appreciates and respects cultural differences, the local history and the people he encounters.
David Allard began working as a geologist in the oil business in San Francisco, California after finishing school in Pennsylvania. He moved to Midland, Texas to work for a major oil and gas company in 1981 and in 1988 moved to Houston to work on international projects with that company; which involved extensive travels. He joined an independent oil and gas company in 1998, moving his family to Egypt; then five years later, transferred to Scotland. He returned to the U.S. in 2006. David has had a varied career of over 35 years as a petroleum geologist, playing a part in many new field discoveries, publications and public presentations.
