153,000 California Anthem Blue Cross members will lose their coverage Jan 1st, 2018 and have to change carriers.
CARMEL, CA, August 05, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Anthem Blue Cross has announced that they will not offer coverage to certain regions in California for the Individual and Family market starting in 2018.
This will affect people who have an ACA compliant plan (purchased Jan 2014 and after) including Covered California.
Anthem will continue to offer health plans to 3 regions in the north of the State. More detail on counties affected in the article link below.
This does not affect employer based coverage, Medicare, Medi-cal, and Grandfathered plans.
Most Anthem members are on the EPO or PPO plan and Blue Shield of California will likely be the only alternative with their PPO plans for many members.
Existing members in the affected areas will be able to continue with their plans through Dec 31st, 2017.
