The Barn was once a 20-stall, 4,000 square-foot horse barn owned by Connor Farms, part of an enterprise which bred and trained some of Texas's finest Percherons, a breed often used in English riding and show jumping competitions. When Sturgeon purchased the sprawling property in the Alliance commercial real estate area, he immediately had offers to remove the barn, but something about the building called to him, and he decided to make changes in his development plans and preserve it.

"The space has restrooms, a small kitchen, and plenty of parking," Sturgeon explains. "We think The Barn will appeal to those who think outside the box and don't want the same old-same old on the most important day of their lives. I'm betting its rustic charm and shabby-chic funk will be quite attractive to those people."

And don't bet against Sturgeon, a local serial entrepreneur who owns and operates over one-million square feet of small, multi-use commercial properties in Tarrant County, including the brand new Box Office Warehouse Suites, the first and only business park in Tarrant County made entirely from shipping containers.

"Hey," says Sturgeon. "We believe in the shipping container revolution, so believing in the appeal of an old barn isn't much of a stretch for us."
