SAN JOSE, CA, September 09, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- ViridisChem, Inc. San Jose, CA is honored to be selected by the United Nations Environmental Program (UNEP) as "one of the most innovative companies with promising products that will influence Green Chemistry adoption and Sustainable Product development" to present its products during a workshop held on September 14, 2017 in Berlin, Germany.
This event is organized by UN Environment and the International Sustainable Chemistry Collaborative Center (ISC3), hosted by the Deutsche Gesellschaft fur International Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, in partnership with the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), the German Chemical Society, the Freie Universitat Berlin and the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) and it is organized back to back with other events taking place on 12-13 September 2017 in the context of the 150th Anniversary of the German Chemical Society, including an 'Innovation Marathon'.
The overall aim of the workshop is to advance at an international level in scaling up innovation for sustainable chemistry and identify opportunities for action in this area. By bringing together green and sustainable chemistry entrepreneurs from developed and developing countries, together with other relevant experts, the workshop will present and review case studies with the goal to identify lessons learned and generate policy relevant knowledge. Workshop outcomes will feed into UN Environment's work on the update of the Global Chemicals Outlook in 2018, and other possible activities at the international level organized by UN Environment, the ISC3, and other partners.
Green Chemistry Adoption prescribes that companies must evaluate toxicity impact throughout the product development lifecycle, minimize the toxic waste generation, and the use of toxic raw material. As a result, there is a critical need to understand the toxicity of chemicals in terms of ecological and health impact.
ViridisChem is a software company offering essential toxicity data and tools for companies to move towards sustainable product development. It has built the most comprehensive toxicity database available in market with over 90 million chemicals. It has also developed analysis modules that use machine-learning algorithms, take into account interaction among chemicals, and concentration of toxic chemical within mixtures, to offer increasingly accurate toxicity analysis of chemicals, mixtures/formulations, and product development processes. Utilizing these technologies, company is offering a suite of web-based tools (offered through yearly subscription to companies worldwide) that provide all the data and analysis capability needed within different sectors throughout product development life-cycle.
Besides this recognition, ViridisChem has received several other recognition that validate the relevance of its products, and show that the company is making extra-ordinary progress in providing the right solutions. One such significant recognition was when the company received the "LAUNCH Chemistry Innovation Challenge 2016" award that was co-sponsored by the international organization LAUNCH.ORG, American Chemical Society Green Chemistry Institute, Estee Lauder, NIKE, IKEA, EBAY, and many other partner organizations. During their recent National Conference held in Washington D.C., American Chemical Society (ACS) also selected ViridisChem to participate in its "Innovation Fair".
Here are some of the testimonials by the leaders of Green Chemistry:
"It's a great pleasure to see ViridisChem and its development of tools assist chemists in the evaluation and selection of chemistries that will have fewer sustainability impacts associated with them. Access to tools providing rapid, automated assessment of EHS impacts are essential if we want chemists to develop new chemical manufacturing processes that are more sustainable than existing processes." - Dr. Constable, Director of the ACS Green Chemistry Institute, and the author or co-author of more than 28 journal publications and books in the areas of green chemistry, life cycle inventory assessment, solvent selection, environmental fate and effects, and environment, safety and health programs.
"We have been discussing how 'Green Awareness' can be introduced within our R&D and QA departments. Seeing how easily this tool can be used, I think it will be an excellent source of useful information for our scientists" Sr. Scientist, Drug Discovery at a big pharma in South San Francisco, CA
