Andrew Sords World-Class Violinist Slated to Perform Classical Masterpieces at Delaware's Historic Milton Theatre Oct. 8th

Internationally Lauded Violinist Returns to Birthplace to Perform Classical Standards

"After a decade of touring, this is my first show in my native state of Delaware, and I'm thrilled to perform with my family in attendance."

MILTON, DE, September 22, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Thirty two years ago, the now celebrated virtuoso Andrew Sords was born in "the first state" of Delaware. Though raised in Ohio, it is Delaware, the state of "Liberty and Independence," that he associates with his core heritage and sense of belonging. "My grandmother's family came to Delaware from Ireland and England in the 1620's, making them some of the first settlers. They remained in Delaware until the present day," said Sords. The sought-after violinist will be performing a full program of works by Brahms, Beethoven, Dvorak, Elgar, Paganini, John Williams - a veritable "greatest hits" with renowned Pianist Elizabeth DeMio at 7:00 PM, Sunday October 8th at the Milton Theatre located at 110 Union St. Milton, DE 19968 (302) 684-3038. Ticket prices are $15-$20. http://miltontheatre.ticketfly.com/

Sords added that, "My parents met at the University of Delaware, and I was born in Newark. Childhood summers were spent at Rehoboth Beach and at my grandmother's house in Milford. After a decade of touring, this is my first show in my native state, and I'm thrilled to perform with my family in attendance."

Having been in the spotlight since his early twenties, Sords has garnered accolades on four continents for his performances combining visceral virtuosity and ravishing tone. Hailed in the press as "a fully formed artist" (Kalisz-Poland News), "utterly radiant" (Canada's Arts Forum), and "exceptionally heartfelt and soulful" (St. Maarten's Daily Herald), Sords has received numerous awards and distinctions reflecting his career trajectory, including the Pittsburgh Concert Society's Career Grant, the National Shirley Valentin Award, and the NFMC Young Artist Award. Born in Newark, Delaware. Sords began piano lessons at five, and shortly thereafter asked for a violin. Early competition successes led to collaborations with nearly 300 top orchestras worldwide.

As for Sords return to Delaware, it is perhaps fitting that the Milton Theatre has such a strong and vibrant history. From the early silent movie days to the modern wide-screen, color, the Milton proved to be a central part of city life. The theater (circa 1905) survived three major fires, but endured extensive water damage from the Great Storm of 1962, causing the Milton to close its doors, with Elvis Presley's "Blue Hawaii" being the last feature film shown. After delighting audiences globally in some of the world's great concert halls, Sords and DeMio are eagerly looking forward to performing classical music's finest in a renewed theater with immense history and panache.
