NEW YORK, NY, September 27, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- European Waterways is bringing golf to the fore with the announcement that it is offering special golf theme luxury hotel barge cruises to "bookend" the 2018 Ryder Cup in France next year, September 28 - 30. The venue will be the spectacular L'Albatros Course, located 20 miles south of Paris and just hours from the cruise routes of several European Waterways hotel barges. The 6-night, all-inclusive cruises depart on Sunday night and conclude the following Saturday, making them ideal for fans attending the event. They are also great for avid golfers who may not be attending the event, but still want to "soak up" the excitement at local golf courses as France hosts the Ryder Cup for only the second time in history.
Eligible hotel barges include the 12-passenger L'Impressionniste, the 8-passenger Renaissance and the 8-passenger L'Art de Vivre, all of which cruise the picturesque Burgundy region of France, just south of the venue. When chartering one of these barges, golfers will be able to play several rounds at top golf courses with pre-booked tee times during their cruise. Non-golfing guests will enjoy escorted excursions to castles and chateaux, wine tastings, food markets, and other sightseeing opportunities and attractions.
"We're still a year away, but the excitement is already building in France and accommodations are selling out as the country prepares to welcome the greatest players from the U.S. and Europe," said Derek Banks, managing director of European Waterways. "A golf theme cruise is ideal at this time. Guests can 'warm up' with a few rounds of golf the week before the event as they cruise the beautiful canals of France. Or they may be eager to immediately put into practice any great tips they picked up by watching the pros."
Ryder Cup Gift Pack
As part of the golf theme cruises, guests will be treated to a special Ryder Cup themed welcome dinner and receive a "gift pack" of official Ryder Cup golf balls and other event memorabilia. For those who charter a hotel barge and are attending the event, a European Waterways chauffeured Mercedes minibus will pick them up at the venue afterwards, or drop them off at the site after their pre-event cruise. European Waterways can also pick up and drop off guests at a designated, centrally located hotel in Paris.
"In addition to golf, we offer numerous theme cruises such as 'tennis' and even 'horticultural' that can complement some of the popular spectator sports and special interest events held in Europe each year, such as Wimbledon, the French Open and the Royal Chelsea Flower Show," Banks noted. "The next time you're planning to attend one, consider enhancing your vacation with a European Waterways cruise."
About European Waterways
The hotel barging experience is different from large vessel river cruising. It offers a slower paced, "gentle voyage of discovery" along the more intimate canals and waterways of Europe that are inaccessible to bigger vessels allowing a small number of guests to become more fully immersed in the culture, history and gastronomy of the region. European Waterways is Europe's largest all-inclusive luxury hotel barging company, offering vacations in nine countries and carrying around 2,500 passengers a year. Founded nearly 40 years ago, they own, operate and market a private fleet of luxury hotel barges with cruises in France, Italy, Scotland, Ireland, England, Germany, Belgium, Holland and Luxembourg.
