Fixed wireline, mobile and IT inventory standards will help insure enterprises have necessary information to gain valuable insights into services, costs and other critical areas.
WESTLAKE VILLAGE, CA, October 03, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The Technology Expense Management Industry Association TEMIA, has published a new industry standard for fixed wireline, mobile and IT inventory. Inventory and asset management provide a critical foundation for all programs. The paper can be downloaded from the TEMIA website.
One of the goals with the paper is to promote more precision in discussions with enterprises for what will be included in the scope of work for fixed, mobile and IT inventory. The IT section in the standard reflects this new thinking.
IT may not be part of a typical TEM or MMS engagement today, but it is included to help clients and Solutions Providers define the scope of work. The paper clearly identifies a minimum requirement for what should be tracked, managed and reported. It also identifies a second category of items that are not part of the required standard with items that are "nice to have."
Mark Hearn, President and CEO of Network Control and President of TEMIA said, "Inventory is one of the most compelling reasons to implement a TEM solution in your organization. Without a complete and comprehensive inventory you lack insightful reporting analytics, detailed information of your Network Control services and cost components cannot be properly measured and reported on. The standards TEMIA has set are a valuable tool in helping the enterprise be assured they have the necessary information to gain valuable insight into the services and costs."
"I am relentless about the capture and value of inventory in our temNOW system (and all TEM systems). Serving on the TEMIA inventory standards committee was an incredible opportunity to elevate our industry," said Dean Keeler, Chief Technology Officer for AMI Strategies.
"With the wide range of service offerings and the ever-changing mobility landscape, it is critical that enterprise customers understand the value of a solid standard to track mobile inventory in order to measure vendor performance, and ultimately program results", said Erik M. Eames, CEO of Wireless Analytics. "I'm honored to have been chosen to co-present these new inventory standards at the recent TEMIA membership meeting, and I fully support and endorse the use of these new standards as a way to ensure the highest quality service delivery for Wireless Analytics' customers".
Over the past six months, TEMIA asked for suggestions in meetings, committee calls and email before finalizing industry standards for fixed wireline, mobile and IT inventory. The final paper reflects contributions from TEMIA's thought leaders. Establishing a standard is important, at the same time, this industry has benefited from its ability to tailor solutions to meet client needs. With this standard, TEMIA has sought to find the right balance between "minimum requirements" and items that are not part of the required standard with items that are "nice to have." Some client projects may not require tracking of IT inventory; others may require additional items which are not part of this standard.
The industry standard for fixed wireline, mobile and IT inventory can be downloaded today.
With this paper TEMIA seeks to:
1. Establish an industry standard that serves as a baseline for Solutions Providers and enterprises.
2. Identify inventory items that enterprises and Solutions Providers consider valuable to track.
3. Insure there is clarity on what will be captured.
