Young people today are involved with their communities in ways that rival all previous generations, and that should inspire all of us to do our part, as well.
INDIANAPOLIS, IN, October 06, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- McNeely Stephenson has named the winners of their scholarship opportunities for the fall semester of 2017. Bobby Whitmer is the winner of the firm's law school scholarship, and Julia Kurz is the winner of the high school community involvement scholarship.
"Both of the students' submissions were very impressive," said Mike Stephenson. "While we received several well-written pieces, Bobby's and Julia's both stood out for their quality and earnestness. We couldn't be prouder to offer these students well-deserved scholarships."
Bobby Whitmer co-authored a paper titled From Critical Decline to Unprecedented Success: An Ltach Turnaround Story, which focused on how changes in marketing, referrals and the charge master improved a troubled hospital in Kentucky.
Julia Kurz's essay focused on her community service on the Southside of Indianapolis, where she has volunteered at food pantries, parishes and Bible schools. Kurz hopes the scholarship will also allow her to increase her volunteer work.
The 2017 legal scholarship was designed to encourage and reward creative authorship. The 2017 high school community involvement scholarship was designed to encourage and reward dedication of an exemplary individual who is deeply involved in the community that surrounds them. Both applicants exhibited the ability to clearly convey a complex message.
"Offering scholarships to exceptional people like Bobby and Julia is something our firm is very proud of," Stephenson said. "I believe both students will go on to be assets to the communities they serve, and it is a privilege to be able to help them in pursuit of their goals."
The firm hopes to continue their efforts to support young people pursuing careers both in and beyond the legal field. Stephenson said he is constantly impressed by younger generations and their willingness to get involved in worthy causes.
"It's very encouraging," Stephenson said. "Young people today are involved with their communities in ways that rival all previous generations, and that should inspire all of us to do our part, as well."
