PHILADELPHIA, PA, October 21, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Jacobs Law Group Founder and Managing Attorney Neal Jacobs presented a 1.5 credit CLE on business divorce and shareholder relations during the Philadelphia Bar Association Bench-Bar & Annual Conference on Friday, Oct. 13 at Borgata in Atlantic City. He was joined by Hon. Patricia A. McInerney, Supervising Judge, Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas, and Jessica M. Gulash and Eric Milby, as course planner, both of Lundy Beldecos & Milby.
The CLE, Business Divorce - Get the Clients, Not the Goldfish!, addressed the practice area devoted to resolving intra-company disputes among business owners. The panel paid homage to the climactic scene in the 1996 film Jerry Maguire in which Jerry is involuntarily compelled to leave the sports agency he built with his business partner. Although the storyline is fiction, it is a surprisingly accurate illustration of disputes that often erupt among companies. Panelists addressed the factual scenarios that lead to business divorce disputes, how those facts translate into legal claims, and how business law attorneys can provide the best service to clients in avoiding, prosecuting, defending and resolving business divorce and shareholder relations disputes.
Jacobs focuses on complex corporate, business, and litigation matters. He devotes particular attention to privately held companies and their shareholder and member relations. Jacobs also handles complex corporate matters involving the rights and obligations of management and the various classes of equity holders and lenders. He is frequently called upon to solve deadlocks and disputes between ownership groups and to help find business-oriented solutions to joint ownership matters. Jacobs provides counsel and representation to privately held companies, founders, entrepreneurs, major and minority shareholders, and private equity funds and venture capital companies. He is a graduate of Cook College, Rutgers University, where he earned his B.S. in Economics and the Rutgers University School of Law, Camden, where he received his J.D. with Honors.
The Bench-Bar & Annual Conference remains the premier event for networking and socializing with colleagues and members of the judiciary, including the opportunity to earn CLE credits through unique course offerings.
