MJM 35Z, THE SMALLEST MEMBER OF THE OUTBOARD RANGE
A NEW GENERATION OF SUCCESSFUL DAY-BOAT
This outboard model made it's debut at the 2017 Newport Boat Show. The MJM 35Z has side-boarding doors for easy access and exit at floating dock height. Better than any center console or cabin cruiser, the 35Z, as with all MJMs, has fully opening windshields for that wonderful fresh air when desired. There's even an electric push-button option as we find they are constantly adjusted. You have a choice of either roll-up Strataglass or tinted sliding safety glass for the side openings.
A bow rail similar to that on other MJMs with spotlight and burgee staff is an option as are a range of fishing options for the casual or serious fisherman. The pilothouse doubles as a second cabin at night with settees converting to two full-length berths and the privacy/sunscreen curtain fully enclosing the area. The cockpit table opens up to 24"x36" for dining and as shown has two other socket locations: the cockpit and V-Berth.
Needless to say, with no diesels and/or Hamilton Jet Drives under the deck, the MJM 35Z has tons of storage for all the diving, fishing and water-sport equipment imaginable. Also available are stainless steel racks on the hard top for kayaks or paddle-boards. The serving bar to port can accommodate an electric grill, bait well, sink, ice-maker or fridge. Twin Stidd piloting seats pivot and lower on telescoping pedestals to form "living room" side chairs to seat 6 people comfortably in any weather during cocktail hour. A full and very effective cockpit Bimini is offered as an option.
A sense of elegance and being on a real boat for civilized cruising is not lost when going below. A clear Awlgrip finished teak & holly sole is combined with satin-finished cherry battens on the hull, 6' 2". headroom, Ultra-leather upholstery and beautiful cherry joiner-work on door frames, drawers, fiddles and cabinets. Storage shelves over the berths are perfect for duffel bag weekending.
The galley has plenty of storage above the counter and below. There are two lockers in the cabin sole, a hanging locker and head with shower, plus a deck shower on the transom. Seven hull ports, port-lights and deck hatches bring in lots of light and air. There are a pair of very adequate, almost 7 ft. long berths with optional "filler" for a double berth conversion.

THREE OTHER MODELS ON DISPLAY
The 2017 edition of the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show is also the occasion to visit three other models on display designed by Zurn Yacht Design: the MJM 40Z, MJM 50Z and the twelfth build of the Vanquish 26 Dual Console.
MJM 40Z, ECO-COMFORT
The MJM 40Z is an eco-smart, thoughtfully created game-changer built with advanced composites, having an innovative layout and superior handling. Her strong, lightweight wet pre-preg, post-cure, epoxy/Eglass/Corecell hull results in a very low center of gravity, which translates into greater stability and seaworthiness as well as an impressively comfortable ride.
Doug Zurn designed this modified deep-V planing hull with generous Carolina bow flare for dealing with steep following or head seas without yawing or burying the bow. For exceptional stability and planing performance, deadrise aft is 19 degrees, carried forward 13 feet then warped into a 50+ degree deadrise at the cutwater with dual lifting strakes and chine flats. This hull shape creates the driest running boat of its type. Hi-tech construction helps lower vertical center of gravity (VCG), so she'll carve into turns, rather than lean outwards like some motor yachts with taller, heavier superstructures.
Along with the Nordhavn 40, the MJM 40Z is one of only two 40' yachts ISO Certified Category A Ocean. Her optional Seakeeper gyrostabilizer guarantees "no roll" comfort and less fatigue. Adding further to gracious living is the flush deck from cockpit to helm, combined with side boarding doors at floating dock height. Gone are the many upstairs, downstairs and boarding challenges encountered on other yachts. That large deck for entertaining, fully-opening front windshields, panoramic sightlines and a uniquely open galley with dinette below are real eye-openers in terms of space utilization and ventilation.

ZURN YACHT DESIGN MJM 50Z STUDIO CELEBRATED 200 MJM BUILDS!
Zurn Yacht Design studio celebrated 200 MJM builds few months ago. Zurn Yacht Design, MJM Yachts' Bob Johnstone (of J Boats fame), and Boston Boatworks have teamed up to create a very unique line of powerboats.
The MJM 50Z is the largest in the fleet by a full ten feet and comes with your choice of either twin or triple Volvo Penta IPS600.
MJM 50z fuel efficiency is extraordinary: 0.9 nm/g at 25 knots and, at the same 8 knots a trawler would travel, one could go to Bermuda and back without refueling. The sleek profile and low center of gravity make it exceptionally safe, seaworthy and fun to drive. MJM 50z takes offshore performance to another level with Doug Zurn's modified deep-V hulls, which allow instant response to the helm without bow steer or bury in large waves, all the while keeping guests dry. A low center of gravity and narrow beam with chine flats redirect wave and wake energy outward and downward to dampen roll in a seaway. The narrower hull shape slices through waves instead of slamming into them.
The MJM 50z offers a multiuse layout for entertaining family picnics or cocktail parties on a single level deck. Plus, hospitable 24/7 staterooms for live-aboard cruising comfort (not just sleeping cabins).
The galley and saloon area mimics your "Great Room" at home, with a dinette that converts to a guest berth with hi/lo table. A gently curving overhead and polished steel vertical pole for a handhold at the companionway give it a real sailboat feel.
The 50z master cabin includes a desk/dressing table plus easy chair next to a large opening hull port for fresh air and view of the harbor to read, write, chat on the phone or just have one's own space. Three more convertible berths are available on the bridge deck with privacy curtains.

VANQUISH 26 DUAL CONSOLE, CLASSIC AMERICAN ELEGANCE

Headquartered in Newport, Rhode Island, Vanquish brings you time-tested classic designs, the pride of generational craftsmen and the advantage of today's exciting new materials and technologies. Vanquish direct drive inboard models are offered in either gas or diesel power and their hull is equipped with a unique propeller and shaft pocket which provides a very modest 22-inch draft. Yard's outboard models offer exceptional performance with best-in-class fuel economy. Either power package provides a balanced feel and an exceptionally smooth ride, a trademark characteristic of all Vanquish.
Vanquish Boats has taken Doug Zurn's exclusive bow forward design to the next level, creating even more room for movement in the cockpit area and fostering an uncluttered feeling.
The cozy and inviting bow seating provides everything you need at your fingertips to enjoy a day on the water. A large L-shape settee aft provides plenty of seating so no one is left behind. The integrated wet bar with your choice of sink or barbeque grill and the enclosed head under the port console ensures that the fun goes on all day.
Vanquish Yachts wanted Zurn to retain the narrow hull design that gives the other Vanquish models their smooth ride. The 3-to-1 length-to-beam ratio is really important for ride quality and also helps with fuel efficiency. The use of lightweight materials plays a role with fuel economy as well. Vanquish builds each boat with carbon-fiber reinforcement in the stringer grid and a cored bottom that's vacuum-bagged with vinyl-ester resin.
With a Mercury Verado 200 as standard engine, the Vanquish tops out at 52 mph and cruises at 38 mph. At 38 mph, the engine burns about 9 gph for a mileage rating of nearly 4 mpg. With the throttle pegged, she gets nearly 2 mpg.
