DOYLESTOWN, PA, November 04, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Bucks County family law firm Williams Family Law. P.C. was pleased to support the National Alliance of Mental Illness (NAMI) of Bucks County through sponsorship of the recent "March for the 22" event on Oct. 22. The event sought to help raise awareness of the high rate of suicide among U.S. military veterans.
The "March for the 22" signifies the average number of veterans who commit suicide each day, according to statistics from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affair.
"We need to do all we can to try and help these veterans by raising awareness of what they're going through," said Williams Family Law Founder and Managing Partner Jeffrey M. Williams. "The fact that 22 veterans take their own lives every day is tragic. It doesn't have to be that way."
Area veterans, active duty military members and numerous concerned community members carried 22-pound packs on their backs while they marched approximately 22 kilometers from Washington Crossing National Cemetery in Upper Makefield to the memorial courtyard at the Bucks County Administration Building in Doylestown Borough.
The march ended with a rally and other community activities in the memorial courtyard that focused on raising awareness about veterans and their struggles with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, depression and suicide.
