OTTAWA, ON, November 10, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- PIKA Technologies Inc. is excited to announce the integration of their Real Time Text (RTT) protocol for analog teletype devices (TTY) and Text over IP applications, delivering full integration into PIKA's HMP X, an all-software building block for creating high performance and reliable telephony and mobile solutions.
With the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) recent selection of RTT - as new communications technology for the deaf and hard of hearing - developers will now be able to create universally accessible communications solution that will switch analog teletype devices (TTY and TRS) to a new internet-based, real-time text messaging standard (RTT).
"With the advent of Real Time Text for Text over IP, we are providing developers with the ability to build advanced communications for the deaf and hard of hearing - effectively moving away from outdated analog teletype to a new, internet-based, real-time text messaging standard (RTT) that's compatible with the latest smartphones", says Wojciech Tryc, PIKA Chief Technology Officer. "In addition to allowing developers to add RTT support to their TTY and IP-relay services, existing HMP X SIP stack users will benefit from additional media types while users of 3rd party SIP stacks will be able to use HMP X in adjunct mode to process specific RTT media type messages."
"PIKA is pleased to be at the forefront of this ground breaking technology", says PIKA CEO Peter Karneef. "With the release of the HMP X real time text API we are enabling developers to create solutions for the deaf and hard of hearing community so that they to can have equally natural, conversation friendly communication without the need for separate, specialized hardware."
Some additional features and benefits of PIKA's RTT API release include; Text encoding as per ITU-T T.140; T.140 transmitted in ISO 10646-1 code with UTF-8 transformation and RTP text payload as per RFC 4102.
