Berklee Student, Blythe Schulte, Charts with New Album Release, Synesthetic

    LOS ANGELES, CA, November 10, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Eclectic jazz singer and producer, Blythe Schulte, releases Synesthetic, her first album, charting at number 7 among digital music albums in the Broadway & Vocalists category on Amazon Music. At press time, it was on the rise among Jazz albums, too, moving from 54th to 31st. Synesthetic is a collection of Blythe's signature interpretations of jazz standards and cover songs drawn from a range of musical genres. The album features the seasoned Ron Kobayashi Trio and includes a duet with newcomer guest vocalist and composer, Priyant Sundas. Synesthetic is available digitally on Amazon and Apple's iTunes. The songs can be streamed via Apple Music, Amazon Music, and Spotify. For old school listeners, a CD is available on Amazon.

In sync with the release of her album, Blythe appears on an ABC network reality competition show this season (November 12th) as a toy inventor and entrepreneur. She recently performed, Blythe Spirit, a live genre-schizophrenic concert, on November 2, 2017 in Berk Hall, at the Berklee College of Music.

Synesthetic, the album title, is drawn from Blythe's unique experience as a synesthete. She experiences sound stimuli as color. Synesthesia is a condition shared by just 4.4% of the population. Blythe's perspectives and music are infinitely colorful in tone and interpretation. On the album, her vocalizations are pure color.

"Everyone I meet has a different color. Everything I hear, touch, see, or smell, has a different color. Everything in this life is a sensory experience for me -- the way that I view the world is unexpected and enveloping. A rainbow swoosh across a musical staff. That's the harmony I feel. At times, it is a battering curse that blazes like a wildfire. There are fuchsia flats, chartreuse sharps, and they exist through the silence. I've stopped asking, 'Why?' I accept it now as a gift from God," explains Blythe.

The musical picks and Blythe's interpretations are rich with color and range. Her signature joie de vivre takes flight in her rendition of Clifford Brown's Joy Spring and Paul Desmond's Take 5, with breathers at the soulful corner of Body & Soul and a frothy take on Gershwin's 'S Wonderful. A jazzy rendition of Pharrell Williams' Happy picks up after a wistful Misty, Blythe's favorite cut from the album. Further kicking up the offerings are a twinkling Fly Me to the Moon (In Other Words) and the sweetly brisk, My Romance.

Blythe delivers an emotive version of Alicia Keys's If I Ain't Got You, a delightfully lilting It Had to Be You, and a spirit-filled rendition of The Prayer. Premiering a new work by composer and guest vocalist, Priyant Sundas, they duet on the exquisite, Love is You and Me.

Beginning her musical career as a five year old, Blythe sang on the Zipper Auditorium stage in Los Angeles. She has performed hundreds of performances on live stages ranging from The Dolby in Hollywood to the National Theatre of China in Beijing, and domestically and internationally in 10 languages and multiple genres. While attending the Orange County School of the Arts, a conservatory school in Santa Ana, CA, Blythe won the international singing competition, the Water Cube Cup, Los Angeles, which took her to Beijing, China to perform in a concert of other winners from around the world. She's performed on stage with Carol Channing, Nicole Parker, and Mary Ann Mobley as a member of the performance troupe, Kids Next Door; she sang for Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, Congressman Ed Royce, and George Key, the great-great-grandson of Star-Spangled Banner composer, Francis Scott Key. Blythe has also performed on television and in film and is a recording studio and animation voiceover artist as well. She presently studies Professional Music, Songwriting, Music Business and Performance at the Berklee College of Music. She is currently in studio working on mixing her first new single, Blythe Spirit, recorded from her live concert at Berklee.

About Blythe Schulte

Blythe Abigail Su-Ren Schulte is a lyric soprano who has performed with Carol Channing, mentored with Metropolitan Opera star, Diane Elias, and workshopped with Matt Morrison, Livingston Taylor, Jason Robert Brown, Jeff Marx, and Ryan Scott Oliver. She studied acting with Shaunt Benjamin from the Actor's Studio in Los Angeles, the Lee Strasberg Theatre/Film Institute in Los Angeles, and is presently a student of the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston. She studied music at Interlochen Center for the Arts in Michigan and can sing in Mandarin, German, Cantonese, French, Japanese, Italian, Latin, Hebrew, Portuguese, and Welsh. She has conducted the Pacific Symphony Orchestra at the Orange County Performing Arts Center and has appeared in sundry musicals, plays, TV shows, and short films. Blythe has extensive studio recording experience and has been commissioned to write lyrics for new songs and compose original works while studying jazz and professional music at Berklee.
