GOODYEAR, AZ, December 15, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- On Friday December 9th, Andra Fair, CEO of Fair Development, had celebrated his significant innovation in residential high-rise construction, by way of a Black-Tie gala inside The Hampton Inn Suites in Goodyear AZ. Why develop a mixed use high-rise next to a baseball park? Simple. The Goodyear Ballpark, site of the Cleveland Indians & Cincinnati Reds spring training facility is the perfect location for entertainment. The venue for a "groundbreaking" new type of residential high-rise building, built on the concept of carbon neutral living and a truly "energy independent" community. "The Gates at Goodyear Ballpark" will become the first residential high-rise community in the Unites States that produces as much or more energy than it consumes, while managing energy across a distributed network of energy storage systems. Sonnen energy storage systems are to be installed for use within every condo unit, as a standard, forming the bulwark to the building's intelligent energy management system. Furthermore, energy generation at "The Gates" will be 100% clean energy, sourced from the abundant sunshine of Arizona.
The intelligent network of sonnen systems, distributed throughout the building, will harness excess sunlight generated energy from the daytime, storing it inside the highly nimble network of smart batteries, embedded in every condo unit. Later on, when the sun is no longer shinning, each specific sonnen energy storage system will be dynamically calibrated to discharge to meet the load of the condo unit that it serves, running the condo on stored sunshine in the evening. In other words, the sonnen system will allow each condo unit and the building as a whole to run almost entirely on its own "organically" generated, optimally distributed, stored and self-consumed clean energy, harnessing the sun's potential for both day and night.
With a sonnen EcoLinx energy storage system standardized in every condo of each of three residential high-rise buildings, "The Gates" will represent a physically connected "sonnenCommunity." Each EcoLinx system will offer 16kWh of clean energy storage capacity and a power throughput specification of 8kW. When applied throughout the three residential high-rise towers, the Fair Development "sonnenCommunity" will boast nearly 300 energy storage systems, offering up-to 5 MWH (Megawatt Hours) of stored sunlight energy and 2.5MW (Megawatt) of power, to energize the three towers dynamically and to potentially act as a "Virtual Power Plant" - "on call" for use throughout the local electricity grid in Goodyear.
"We are very proud to partner with Andra Fair on this first of its kind in the US green building design." - said Christoph Ostermann, founder and CEO of sonnen. "It is our hope that the Gates at Goodyear Ballpark will be viewed as an innovative new model for future self-sufficient developments throughout the US, one which embraces clean energy technology and an underlining philosophy that we must take concrete steps to fight climate change now, through the decarbonization of the electricity grid. This requires a fundamental shift in the way we power our buildings and homes."
As part of the posh December 9th launch event, Fair Development is also announcing working with AT&T, standardizing on an advanced deployment by using "Apple, Google, and Amazon Home Kit," coupled with specific hardware devices for each condo. To complement the these systems, sonnen's EcoLinx is the first residential energy storage system that is not only smart, it integrates with popular home automation systems, enabling smart demand control all while embedding carbon footprint and critical energy generation, storage and usage data in the same iPad that will control the home's audio, home theater and lighting. "Our objective is to create the luxury condo environment of the future, featuring cutting-edge smart-home technology, elegantly integrating a clean energy lifestyle with the comforts of a home automation and entertainment system." - says Andra Fair, CEO and founder of Fair Development. "We need to be able to empower our condo owners by providing useful information and subsequent control over their energy usage and overall carbon footprint. That said, we must achieve this while harmonizing technology and information with our design theme and chic decor." Andra has also partnered with AT&T to bring cutting edge new Internet service to the Gates, boasting industry leading upload and download speeds, which will surely speed up the home network and the performance of Apple, Google, Amazon Home Kit applications.
Regarding the large amount of building windows, Fair Development has selected View Dynamic Glass, a new generation of digitally connected, architectural glass that intelligently tints to control glare and heat, while eliminating blinds and maximizing natural light. View creates more comfortable, inspiring and healthy environments for condo owners. Due to its superior material properties, View also lowers building energy consumption by 20% and blocks over 99% of UV light. Every View window is network addressable, providing a high-density, powered, connected platform for smart buildings. This highly innovative technology will serve to substantially reduce the energy load profile of the building, contributing to the "zero net energy" or even "net positive" story of The Gates development.
Finally, the lofty renewable energy generation requirement of each tower will be met by a substantial Building-Integrated Photo Voltaic array (built in solar panels), covering the majority of the tower's vast rooftop. Fair Development will also deploy additional renewable energy generation systems, in order to reach the lofty targets for generation. In addition to providing "energy independence" and true "carbon neutral living," The Gates at Goodyear Ballpark will also provide energy security by way of backup power, giving peace-of-mind.
"Andra Fair's Gates at Goodyear Ballpark represents a truly disruptive design concept for the status-quo of the US electricity grid" - said Blake Richetta, sonnen's Senior Vice President and head of the US Business Unit. "We could not be more enthusiastic about the event on November 3rd, announcing the design to the public and the introduction of this first-of-its-kind sonnenCommunity, while fortifying our long-term relationship with Fair Development." With a guest list of nearly 400 individuals ranging from athletes, to government officials, to entertainment professionals, to members of the clean-technology and innovation communities, Andra's December 9th event is sure to make a "big-splash" for his Gates Project and for his keystone technology, the first US sonnenCommunity application in a residential high-rise.
In Germany and Italy, sonnen has been developing their robust and proven sonnenCommunity footprint since 2014. The European sonnenCommunity represents the "gold-standard" for the aggregation of distributed residential energy storage resources and is sonnen's signature accomplishment. The European sonnenCommunity has grown to become the world's largest distributed network of energy storage systems, aggregated on a "Virtual Power Plant" software layer. SonnenCommunity members pay either very little for electricity or, in the case of the "sonnenFlat Rate," they pay nothing at all! The sonnenCommunity in Europe is also the world's largest peer-to-peer clean energy trading platform. Although the German and Italian sonnenCommunity represent a geographically distributed network of solar + sonnen storage systems, that were sold to homeowners as a retrofit on existing homes, many of the incredibly valuable lessons from the European community will be deployed throughout the Fair Development sonnenCommunity, here in America.
As the first mainstream grid tied residential energy storage company in the world and the market leader in Europe since 2010, with over 21,000 installed and working systems, sonnen's proven track record goes beyond their high-tech "community." Sonnen offers amongst the longest lasting, robust and safest energy storage systems available, good for many years of hassle free use, with "peace-of-mind."
