SAN FRANCISCO, CA, December 23, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ --
WHAT: WHILL set out five years ago to redefine the power mobility market. For several decades, users have been relegated to driving antiquated power scooters and wheelchairs. Instead, WHILL has created a new product category called intelligent Personal Electrical Vehicles (PEVs). Their second generation PEV called the Model Ci will debut at CES. PEVs represent a new class of product designed to limit the rider's feelings of disability and judgment by others. The Model Ci PEV not only promotes user confidence and possesses positive societal impact, but also embeds the latest technologies to enable users to maneuver their world freely, unencumbered by various barriers such as uneven outdoor terrains, narrow passageways, and small settings such as restaurants.
"We designed the Model Ci to convey a user's social enthusiasm and adventurous attitude towards living a fully active life, removing the stigma associated with a disability that adversely affects one psychologically," says Satoshi Sugie, CEO of WHILL and former Nissan designer. "The result for the user is not just freedom of mobility, but freedom from self-consciousness often associated with using a wheelchair or scooter."
The Model Ci's integrated Bluetooth powers remote driving operation, a mouse controller facilitates precise steering, and a 10-mile range with a top speed of five-miles-an-hour can energize a full day of activities. A service called IntelliCare leverages Artificial Intelligence (AI) to accurately predict when maintenance will be required and pre-schedules repairs for the customer. To demonstrate the quality, durability and versatility with power enough to climb hills and conquer rugged terrain, WHILL's booth at the Sands Expo #43943 will feature an obstacle course to showcase the Model Ci's capabilities.
