VICTORIA, BC, December 31, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Perilous, a sweeping historical fantasy story told from the point of view of the angelic spirit trapped inside the Sangreal, also known as the Holy Grail, will entice readers with a new twist on the Arthurian legends of Merlin and Nimue.
Kellan Publishing will be releasing Mary-Jean Harris's fantasy novella Perilous on January 25, 2018. In anticipation of Mary-Jean's release, she will be holding a pre-launch party on January 23, 2018 that will offer readers a chance to learn about the legends that inspired her story as well as win a free copy of the book and never-before-seen short stories. The party will be held on her website; anyone wishing to attend can sign up at https://thesoulwanderers.blogspot.ca/p/perilous.html
Reflecting about her choice to write a novella, author Mary-Jean Harris said, "Novellas aren't the norm when it comes to publishing: they're not short stories, they're not novels, they're somewhere in between. But for people with busy schedules or who don't want to commit to a novel-length book, novellas offer a nice alternative. I hope that with my upcoming release of Perilous, I will be able to help open up the genre of novellas by putting a twist on a well-known genre (Arthurian fantasy) and looking at it from a different point of view."
In the novella, the Sangreal is created in Heaven by Archangel Lucifer and subsequently falls to Earth during the war in Heaven. The Sangreal is left to observe the trials and tribulations of the human race. Yet the involvement of Lucifer and Archangel Michael in human affairs gives birth to an era of magic and half-Archangels, the time of Merlin, Arthur, and Nimue. At this crux of time, plots that have spanned centuries are revealed as the Sangreal tries to discover a human enlightened enough to return it to Heaven.
Mary-Jean Harris writes historical and other-world fantasy stories. She is a graduate student in theoretical physics at the University of Victoria and has published various short stories in anthologies and online such as the Tesseracts anthologies, Polar Expressions, SciPhi Journal, and Allegory Ezine. Mary-Jean is also the author of the young adult fantasy novel of Aizai the Forgotten.
