Twelve Years Of Turbulence: The Inside Story Of American Airlines' Battle For Survival By Gary Kennedy and Terry Maxon Launches February 6th

Former American General Counsel Kennedy Recounts What Happened At American Airlines

DALLAS, TX, February 03, 2018 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Twelve Years of Turbulence: The Inside Story of American Airlines' Battle for Survival (ISBN 978-1682614884, Savio Republic, 2018) by Gary Kennedy and Terry Maxon is being released on February 6, 2018. The book recounts the challenges and crises American faced during the years following the tragic attacks of 9/11 during which American Airlines lost billions as it struggled to avoid bankruptcy. The company finally had to file for bankruptcy, but merged with US Airways and concluded one of the most successful bankruptcies in US history. Kennedy, who served as American Airlines General Counsel during the crisis, and Maxon, a former award-winning reporter with the Dallas Morning News covering aviation, piece together a book that reads more like a mystery novel than a typical business book. The book is available in both hardcover and Kindle editions. Kennedy and Maxon will be doing a book signing on February 6th at the Barnes & Noble - Lincoln Park, 7700 W Northwest Hwy, Ste 300, Dallas, Texas 75225 at 7PM CT as part of the book launch.

"This book is filled with stories about success; it's filled with stories about failure; it's filled with stories about great drama and great passion," said Gary Kennedy, co-author of Twelve Years of Turbulence. "It tells how American marched forward despite the adversity, including a difficult path through bankruptcy."

"American Airlines filing bankruptcy was the biggest story of my career," said Terry Maxon, co-author of Twelve Years of Turbulence. "When Gary asked me to join him in writing this book, I signed on at once as this was a story that had to be told."

Twelve Years of Turbulence reveals extraordinary details from closed-door corporate board meetings, internal discussions with executives, confidential legal strategy meetings and secret - and many times contentious - negotiations between American officials, its labor unions, American's creditors, and executives with US Airways. This book gives the reader an inside seat to one of the biggest airline stories in recent memory.
