Collector Carlos King of Gallery24Jewelry Presents A Retrospective Jewelry Collection at "Modernism Week"

    LOS ANGELES, CA, February 14, 2018 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Carlos King of Gallery24Jewelry in Palm Springs is presenting a retrospective exhibition of rare William de Lillo and Robert F. Clark jewelry and sculpture, during the 18th Annual Palm Springs Modernism Week Show & Sale, February 16 - 19, at the Palm Springs Convention Center.

While the show itself will feature nearly one hundred premier national and international dealers offering furniture, decorative and fine arts representing design movements of the 20th century, Carlos King's exhibition is a rare retrospective of exclusive archival vintage William de Lillo jewelry and sculpture from his estate not previously shown before. The unique bold aspect of de Lillo's pieces attracted the attention of Elizabeth Taylor and other celebrities, as well as American and French fashion houses. His vision and talent along with his partner Robert F. Clark did not only transcend to jewelry, but also to art, resulting in beautiful brutalist wire and bronze sculpture of different scales and geometric shapes. Their pieces are scarce and coveted amongst private collectors and museums.

William de Lillo started his career working for reputable fine jewelry houses such as Tiffany & Co. under the direction of Jean Schlumberger, Cartier, and Harry Winston, before branching out on his own with the help of Robert F. Clark (head designer for Miriam Haskell) and forming William de Lillo Ltd. in New York City in 1969. They later moved to Paris where they collaborated with the house of Chanel, Nina Ricci, Schiaparelli and Yves Saint Laurent. The impeccable craftsmanship, materials and attention to detail built a reputable European clientele, including the Duchess of Windsor. Notably, the Baron and Baroness de Rothschild sponsored a private party/exhibit in Paris in 1978, in the exclusive Cercle Foch showcasing their work. The guest list comprised of celebrities and of the aristocracy and members of the "tout Paris".

"The history of jewelry is fascinating, and de Lillo and Clark were amazing designers of the 20th century with some of the most astonishing creations in their time," said Carlos King.
