NEW YORK, NY, February 20, 2018 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The American Health Council has selected Laurie Truog, BLA, MD to its Board of Physicians for her glowing reputation within the medical field. As the medical director of the Child Guidance Center in Jackson, Fla., -- a role she has held for two years -- Dr. Truog contributes comprehensive skills in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, treating the broad range of diagnosis therein. She has spent eight years in the medical field molding and perfecting her skills to ensure that each patient receives the care they need.
Her passion to pursue a career in the medical field sparked when her father suffered an injury when she was younger. The event resonated with Dr. Truog immensely throughout her childhood. Eventually, she enrolled at the University of Missouri in Kansas City, Mo., with the mission to help others and make a lifelong difference in the medical field. She earned her medical degree in 2004, and after years of rigorous academic training, Dr. Truog's passion to help children and adolescents reached fruition as she nestled at Guild Guidance Center in 2009. First taking on the role of a child psychiatrist, she evaluated, diagnosed and treated patients at the center. She assessed therapeutic needs and completed clinical duties. She was then appointed to the facility's medical director in 2015, and continues to complete direct patient care duties, as well as administrative tasks.
Within her agency, Dr. Truog received the Excellence Award for the dedication and quality care she committed to her patients. She received academic scholarships from her local community and associated civic organizations in her academic years. To stay informed on development and innovation within the medical field, Dr. Truog has joined several associations including the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and the North-Central Florida Psychiatric Association.
Dr. Truog attributes her success to her work ethic, motivation and desire to make a difference in others' lives. Her motivation is active in her personal life as she volunteers at her sons' schools and supports and works with the Mekane Yesus Lutheran Mission Orphanage in Dukem, Ethiopia. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family. She is committed to continuing helping children and adolescents as she looks forward to expanding her agency and its services, as they have been successfully providing exceptional care for the last 66 years.
