MIDDLE ISLAND, NY, April 05, 2018 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Shorin Ryu Karatedo International (SRKDI) will welcome Karate Grand Master 9th Degree Black Belt Master Instructor Takeshi Tamaki direct from Okinawa, the original birthplace of Karate, to the 2018 World Training Camp. Eighth Degree Black Belt and SRKDI President and Founder Jerry Figgiani will host the exclusive event at the World Shorin Ryu Karatedo International Headquarters in Middle Island, New York.
With prominent instructors and their high ranking students from 30+ karate schools representing the U.S. Spain, Ireland, Romania, Puerto Rico, New Zealand, Canada, Italy and the Netherlands, the message and focus of this eminently historic world event is to hone the skills of the training camp participants and share the joy of the path of karate. Like-minded practitioners will be brought together to further expand the study of the original and authentic Okinawan martial art that is not only the seed of all Japanese Karate, but has spread to 130+ countries throughout the world.
"This unique relationship that we have forged with Okinawa has resulted in a partnership bridging the distances between our two cultures," said Figgiani. "Sharing the helm of Shorin Ryu Karatedo International with Master Tamaki who has accepted the role of Chairman and Technical Director of the organization. Events will be held May 18-May 20 at Dojo East Coast Black Belt Academy, 161 Middle Country Rd. in Middle Island. Friday: 5pm-9pm; children's event (ages 7+) held from 5pm-6pm; Saturday 10am-4pm; and Sunday 10am-12pm. Practitioners will be explaining principles, concepts, forms and function of their techniques, as well as the history of Okinawan Karate. Lou Di Blasi 3rd degree black belt who is 80 years-old will also be in the group.
