Opioid Presence in 8% of Fatal Crash Drivers in 2016, Less than ½ the Level of Cannabis at 18%
Oregon highest at 19%, Medical cannabis States at 16%, New England States at about 14%. Cannabis at 18% still No.1 drug in fatal crashes, compared to alcohol presence at 33%.

SAN FRANCISCO, CA, April 15, 2018 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Our results support the results of a American Public Health Journal study using 2013 FARS data, that concluded that operational medical marijuana laws are associated with reductions in opioid positivity among older age groups of drivers in fatal crashes.
Opioid use highest noon to 4am, vs. cannabis 4pm to midnight. Opioid use centered on Thursday to Saturday vs. cannabis on Friday to Sunday. Driver age for opioid older, 35-44 vs, 25-34 for cannabis. Higher percent opioid user's female at 26% vs.17% for cannabis. Opioid users found speeding less than cannabis, 27% vs 40%.
