TORONTO, ON, May 02, 2018 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Virtual reality (VR) isn't a new technology, but it's increasing affordability will have a positive impact on various industries. According to Kitchen Nation President, Deepak Malik, the applications of the technology extend to kitchen and home renovations.
"Many renovation projects often involve moving windows, removing walls and making drastic alterations to existing spaces; the impact of such changes is hard to grasp if all you have is a drawing," says Malik. "VR is a way for homeowners to see actually see what their designs will look like once realized. By putting on a headset and 'walking around', they'll be able to get a fuller appreciation of the new kitchen design. The ergonomics of the new space can be explored before any big financial commitments are made."
Kitchen remodelling is already a big business because of the added resale value it can provide to a home. According to some estimates, a remodel can return anywhere from 70-120 percent. The addition of VR suites across all showrooms will take the guesswork out of design selections Malik believes.
"If VR becomes as ubiquitous as desks, then homeowners will be able to see what their kitchen can look like with multiple finishes in real-time. Everything from colours, textures and décor could be swapped with a wave of the hand enabling them to see the full effect of their choices".
