"Women are critical stakeholders in healthcare, serving as workers, caregivers, and consumers—yet they do not have an equal voice in the ranks of leadership."
PHOENIX, AZ, May 11, 2018 /24-7PressRelease/ -- 50 Women Can Change the World in Healthcare, an innovative leadership program developed by Gloria Feldt, Co-founder of nonprofit Take The Lead, and facilitated by Lisa Mead, Founder of Arizona Women in Healthcare, is looking to build a powerful cohort here in the Valley of the Sun. Registration is open to women here.
The four-month program starts on June 12th with a three-day immersion at the Arizona Hospital and Healthcare Association in Phoenix, AZ. Following the immersion, participants will participate in virtual learning sessions and private coaching to support the implementation of their personal Strategic Leadership Action Plan. Candidates for the program need not be from Phoenix--women working in the healthcare industry across the country are encouraged to apply as much of the work will be done online.
Mead, a respected veteran of the healthcare industry, says that women leaders in healthcare are found not only in clinical roles but in departments like marketing, finance, insurance payors, practice management, sales, information services, HR, accounting, etc. They work for large and small organizations and many are entrepreneurs. The 50 Women Can Change the World program is designed to demonstrate how working across silos will spark innovative thought and solve problems that impact the whole industry.
Through her consulting practice, she realized that there was a need for this kind of programming to bring women together across the many channels the industry comprises and help them build a powerful network of contacts. This kind of connection is not something that is easily attainable in the system right now.
Arizona Women in Healthcare Founder Lisa Mead RN, MS, CPHQ, CHPC, a Take The lead leadership Ambassador, believes strongly that the program is critical for women in healthcare. "Women are critical stakeholders in healthcare, serving as workers, caregivers, and consumers—yet they do not have an equal voice in the ranks of leadership. Our goal with this program is to stir up meaningful and actionable dialogue around women in leadership, with the hopes of providing a foundation for our industry to turn this dialogue into action."
Mead states further, "We have a tremendous opportunity to improve the industry for all women and impact the communities we serve. Building cohorts provides members with critical perspectives outside their area of expertise and a network to not only drive career development but a sisterhood to call upon in the future. This cross-pollination of ideas, experience, and expertise doesn't naturally happen within companies and our hope for this program is to create a powerful network that will have long-lasting systemic change."
The 50 Women Can Change The World program is deeply pragmatic delivering tactics and skills—a toolkit—women can put to work in their individual careers. The curriculum material was developed by activist and author Gloria Feldt and drawn from her acclaimed book No Excuses: 9 Ways Women Can Change How We Think about Power. It has been used to help thousands of women shift into leadership positions throughout the country.
The idea behind the initiative is to build incubators within industries and networks of burgeoning women leaders who across companies can support each other in their fields and careers. At the heart is the idea of the group of women as a cohort—a leadership network forged through the four-month course.
The Fifty Women Can Change the World in Healthcare, is joining the Fifty Women Can Change The World in Philanthropy in Arizona and Media and Entertainment in California, and will soon be joined by additional 50 Women Can Change The World contingents focused on women in finance and other fields. Registration is open at bit.lyAZWIHC50 to join the first 50 Women program in healthcare.
