Everywhere Wireless Teams up with Literacy Works this Weekend at Printers Row Lit Fest in the South Loop

Working together for the second year, the pair will be at the 2018 Printers Row Lit Fest, to advocate for awareness, funding and support of a more literate community.

"Literacy Works is excited to partner with Everywhere Wireless for the second year!" said Beth Ulion, Development Director at Literacy Works.

CHICAGO, IL, June 05, 2018 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Festivalgoers can learn about the many ways they can volunteer their time or simply support the cause through donations, at their Lit Fest booth or online at the GoFundMe campaign.

It's hard to think that in this digital day and age, there are over half a million Chicago adults that can not read or write well enough to meet their personal or professional goals. So much of our daily routine, from employment to parenting and community participation requires a certain degree of literacy, be it traditional or digital. This is where Everywhere Wireless, Chicago's largest independent Internet Service Provider (ISP), and Literacy Works have been able to make a difference together.

Literacy Works has been committed to building a strong network of adult literacy programs, connecting learners and tutors to opportunities, and empowering diverse organizations to effectively serve adults with low literacy since 1995. Chicago-based ISP Everywhere Wireless believes the digital atmosphere of the Internet can help with this mission. A great example is in the latest addition to the Literacy Works' training programs where they have implemented a recorded webinar able to reach interested volunteers, educators and parents for a training session - at any time!

With the goal of increasing literacy among Chicagoans, the Everywhere Wireless and Literacy Works partnership is focused on two key fundraisers in their second year together:

1. The duo will mix some fun and education while raising funds for a great cause at the Chicago Tribune's 34th Annual Printers Row Lit Fest, the largest free outdoor literary event in the Midwest that draws more than 100,000 festivalgoers to the two-day showcase. All donations will go directly to Literacy Works to help facilitate its continued mission of literacy and digital literacy. The latter is something Everywhere Wireless plays a pivotal role in every day by providing Gigabit Internet service – the fastest Internet available in Chicago, to residences, businesses, schools, public parks and beaches throughout the greater Chicago area. EW has, quite simply, disrupted the Chicago market, as further described in Inc. Magazine and Entrepreneur.com.

2. Everywhere Wireless has launched a GoFundMe campaign that aims to raise $2,000 – which would enable Literacy Works to train 40 volunteer tutors on how to improve the basic literacy skills of 200 adults in Chicago.

The 2018 Lit Fest marks the latest alliance the Gigabit Internet Service provider has forged with Chicago organizations aimed at helping citizens in and around the city improve their communities and their quality of life. Several popular Chicago landmarks and experienced-based educational centers, including Buckingham Fountain, The Art Institute of Chicago, the Field Museum, the Museum Campus, and National Hellenic Museum offer their visitors Internet powered by Everywhere Wireless. The company has also partnered with the City of Chicago and the Chicago Park District to provide free Wi-Fi to 8 Chicago Beaches: 31st Street, 57th Street, North Avenue, Oak Street, Osterman/Hollywood, Montrose, Foster and Rainbow Beach.

"We are honored to be working with Literacy Works again this year. We hope to continue to shine a light on the importance of literacy. We are a firm believer that the Internet and digital literacy can help improve the quality of life for all Chicagoans through access to housing, food, medical and educational assistance programs," said Keegan Bonebrake, Everywhere Wireless' EVP of Strategy and Real Estate.

"Literacy Works is excited to partner with Everywhere Wireless for the second year!" said Beth Ulion, Development Director at Literacy Works. "Our presence together at the Printers Row Lit Fest is a fun way to spread the word about adult literacy in Chicago. While thousands of folks will gather this weekend to celebrate and experience the joy of reading, thousands of other people across the city struggle with daily reading tasks. Everywhere Wireless' support of Literacy Works strengthens programs across Chicago where adult learners work on reading, writing, and math so that they can access vital information about healthcare, education, and jobs - and engage in the joy of reading and self-expression."
