WorldVentures Foundation Supports Happy Hearts Indonesia's Plans to Build 100 Schools in Five Years

"Education can help any child create a better life and build a brighter future. We are honored to collaborate with Happy Hearts Indonesia to help local children accomplish their first educational mile

DALLAS, TX, July 07, 2018 /24-7PressRelease/ -- WorldVentures Foundation™ is supporting Happy Hearts Indonesia's plans to build 100 schools in Indonesia in the next five years. The two philanthropic organizations have collaborated on the Schools for Sumba project to provide educational opportunities to underprivileged preschool children on the island of Sumba, Indonesia. The prototype preschool, completed in January 2018, consists of two permanent classroom structures and a bathroom with clean running water. The second school will be built in July 2018.

Gwyneth Lloyd, WorldVentures Foundation executive director, will host a dinner for potential volunteers at the next BootCamp, a major WorldVentures training event in Hong Kong. Lloyd will discuss opportunities for volunteers to take part in the project, including the chance to paint the second school during a VolunTour in October 2018.

"Education can help any child create a better life and build a brighter future. We are honored to collaborate with Happy Hearts Indonesia to help local children accomplish their first educational milestone: admission to primary school," said Lloyd. "We have been fortunate to help more than 18,000 children in Guatemala since 2011 through our Bottle School project, and we want Schools for Sumba to have a similar positive impact on the lives of children in Indonesia. Currently, only one in four local children has the chance to go to school, and together with Happy Hearts and WorldVentures Independent Representatives, we aim to change those numbers and help the local community thrive."

The Schools for Sumba project provides permanent classroom structures for preschool children on the island of Sumba in East Nusa Tenggara, the third-poorest province in Indonesia. The poverty rate in Sumba is 32 percent, with 37 percent of households bringing in irregular income. Locals mostly work in agriculture, earning less than 500 Indonesian rupiah per month (about US $37). The illiteracy rate in Sumba is 14 percent, strikingly higher than the national rate of 2 percent.* Fortunately, education can make a difference. That's why WorldVentures Foundation and Happy Hearts Indonesia are making the Schools for Sumba project a priority. By providing the community with better access to proper educational facilities, they can improve the lives and futures of local children.
