FORT WORTH, TX, September 14, 2018 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. Bruce McDonald, a native Texan, received his Bachelor of Arts in Classical Music from the University of Texas/Austin, 1967; his Master of Divinity, from Asbury Theological Seminary (Wilmore, KY), 1971; and his Ph.D. in Ecclesiastical History, from the University of Edinburgh (Scotland), 1994.
He serves as Professor of Philosophy and Religion at Texas Wesleyan University, founded by the Methodist Episcopal Church, South, in 1890. The institution has a Texas-sized reputation, rich history and is known for its "Smaller. Smarter." tradition.
Dr. Bruce McDonald – also known as The Reverend Bruce McDonald - believes in putting faith and love into action. He has served as a Pastor within the United Methodist Church in New York and Vermont prior to returning to the Lone Star State to begin his teaching career at Texas Wesleyan.
McDonald has served as Chair for College Day at the College and as an accomplished pianist is renowned for his Duo Piano Concerts with a fellow professor at the University. Dr. McDonald also serves as an organist at Handley United Methodist Church in Fort Worth, Texas.
He is a member of the Troy Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church, the North American Patristics Society, and the Ecclesiastical History Society.
The works of Dr. McDonald have not gone unnoticed. He is a recipient of numerous awards and accolades, including a five-time recipient of the Golden Rule Award. However, as his life's undertaking of making a positive difference in the world, can be immensely treasured as a host of his students, peers, church community witness his faith and love into action.
