Vinson Orthodontics Awards Scholarship to Heritage High School Graduate

    WAKE FOREST, NC, September 15, 2018 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Orthodontist Dr. Britt Vinson is proud to support the local community in Wake Forest and Clayton, NC. One way that Dr. Vinson gives back to his patients is through the Vinson Orthodontics Scholarship Program.

Every year, Dr. Vinson awards a $500 scholarship to one current or former patient of Vinson Orthodontics. This year's winner was Katie Arteta, a graduating senior who will attend North Carolina State University in the fall. Katie was selected as the winner based on the merits of her essay titled, "True Friendship is Unconditional".

Here is a brief excerpt from Katie's essay:

Throughout my life and especially now, my mother has always been the one person that I can turn to and look up to for anything. When I am experiencing any type of situation, my mom always seems to have a phrase or a piece of wisdom to share that has significant meaning or reference to what is going on in that particular moment of my life. However, there is one specific and important piece of advice that has always struck a chord with me and will continue to come in handy, as I grow in life and relationships. It will be one to share when I have a family or children of my own: "True friendship is unconditional."

Katie graduated from Heritage High School in 2018. Throughout her high school career, she has been active in her school and the community. At Heritage High School, she graduated with honors and received the Beaded Eagle feather from the American Indian Education Counsel. Katie was also a member of the National Honor Society and Math Honor Society.

She was awarded "Athlete of the Month" (September 2015) and received the Academic Excellence Award in 2017. During her high school career, she was a member of the Student Government Association, PTSA Student Representative and Heritage Theatre (2014-2015).
