WILMINGTON, NC, September 22, 2018 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Depression is by far one of the most common mental disorders today. According to the National Institute of Mental Health website, it is estimated that 16.2 million adults have had at least one major depressive episode in the US. That number is staggering. Are we becoming more depressed? Or has that always been the case and we are just now becoming aware of the problem? Is our modern-day lifestyle the cause? What is the answer?
In a recent article posted on her website, multi-award-winning Christian author Donna Louis gives us a glimpse into the lives of some characters from the Bible who faced seemingly insurmountable challenges. They did not have the luxury of going into therapy or nor did they have access to anti-depressants. They instead relied on their faith in God. He delivered, in ways that are nothing short of miraculous.
The Red Sea
And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord, which he will shew to you today: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen today, ye shall see them again no more forever. The Lord shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace. And the Lord said unto Moses, wherefore criest thou unto me? speak unto the children of Israel, that they go forward: But lift thou up thy rod, and stretch out thine hand over the sea, and divide it: and the children of Israel shall go on dry ground through the midst of the sea. – Exodus 14:13-16.
Daniel In the Lion's Den
Then the king commanded, and they brought Daniel and cast him into the den of lions. Now the king spake and said unto Daniel, Thy God whom thou servest continually, he will deliver thee. And a stone was brought and laid upon the mouth of the den; and the king sealed it with his own signet, and with the signet of his lords; that the purpose might not be changed concerning Daniel. Then the king went to his palace and passed the night fasting: neither were instruments of musick brought before him: and his sleep went from him. Then the king arose very early in the morning and went in haste unto the den of lions. And when he came to the den, he cried with a lamentable voice unto Daniel: and the king spake and said to Daniel, O Daniel, servant of the living God, is thy God, whom thou servest continually, able to deliver thee from the lions? Then said Daniel unto the king, O king, live forever. My God hath sent his angel, and hath shut the lions' mouths, that they have not hurt me: forasmuch as before him innocency was found in me; and also, before thee, O king, have I done no hurt. Then was the king exceedingly glad for him and commanded that they should take Daniel up out of the den. So, Daniel was taken up out of the den, and no manner of hurt was found upon him because he believed in his God. – Daniel 6:16-23

"Life has its advantages and disadvantages but ultimately it is better to be alive than dead," Louis stated. "When you are alive you can see a beautiful rainbow, laugh at a joke, go see a baseball game, enjoy a great meal, enjoy a beautiful sunset walk on the beach with the one you love. Sure, there will be days when things don't go as you planned and uphill battles to overcome but ultimately that is life. Don't look at life as a Languishing Ill-fated Fury of Escapades. Instead live life as Lighthearted Intoxicating with Faith and Enthusiasm. This is what your heavenly father wants you to leave the struggles up to him because the battle is not yours it's the lords and ultimately Only God Can."

Donna Louis helps readers explore miracles both past and present. Her book, 'Miracles of Direction, Miracles of Conquest, Miracles of Provision and Miracles of Purpose' explores biblical miracles that took place while Jesus was here on earth. She then references with miracles that take place on a daily basis in the modern world. She separates these miracles into four categories and presents insightful example of each type, taken directly from the Bible.
Louis knows her subject well, as she has personally experienced four miracles. As the result of those life-altering experiences, she began an in-depth study of some of Christianity's most well-documented miracles. In her book, she attempts to expand upon and explain both the purpose and the direction of those miracles.
