Q: What does being a consumer choice award winner mean to you? How did winning the Consumer Choice Award impact your business?
A: Winning the Consumer Choice Award was satisfying in the fact that we have been recognized for all of our hard work over the years. This award will now let more customers learn about our story and visit our two store locations.
Q: What makes your business unique in the market?
A: We are very unique in this industry as we have our own delivery and installation team, as well as our own service team. This allows to us to help the customer throughout the life of their equipment.
Q: How do you keep up with the trends in your industry?
A: I like to visit such fitness shows as CanFitPro and IHRSA. This is where the latest trending equipment is released to the world. I also like talking to my equipment reps to gain their inside knowledge of equipment, as well as talking with customers to gain their knowledge of what works, and what doesn't for them.
Q: What is the next priority for your business?
A: The next priority for our business is to have a larger online presence and to increase our outreach through social media. The more people that can find us, the more business we will do.
Q: What makes your company successful?
A: Our company has been successful for over 32 years in St. Catharines, and now over 6 years in Hamilton. This is due to the fact that we like to find the best fitness equipment for the customer, not the best piece of equipment for us. This way we build strong relationships and gain customers for life.
Q: Name a person who has had a tremendous impact on you? How did this person impact your life?
A: The entire Bowman family has been involved in one way or the other for over 32 years. Each one of them has put their time and sweat into the company. As employees, we want to work hard to keep them happy and continue on with the legacy of the stores.
GETTING TO KNOW MATT O'BRIEN:
Are you or your company involved in your community (charity, fundraising, etc.)... We like to support some local charities and sports teams. Most of us have even coached minor sports teams while working for Niagara Hamilton Fitness Solutions.
What hobby would you get into if time and money were not an issue?... More golf for sure, as it is a great hobby, sport and physical activity rolled into one.
You've just won the lottery, what is your first biggest purchase?... Cottage on the lake, somewhere quiet.
