NEW ORLEANS, LA, October 03, 2018 /24-7PressRelease/ -- MOVIE NIGHT, a new series of free outdoor movie events in Bayou Metairie Park (Metairie Road at Labarre in Old Metairie), is a collaboration between Old Metairie Garden Club, and Jefferson Parish Councilwoman Jennifer Van Vrancken. Each movie night provides opportunities to gather as a neighborhood and build a sense of community by offering residents free opportunities to enjoy themselves outdoors. The kickoff off premiere of MOVIE NIGHT will begin 10/5/2018 at 7:15p, featuring "Hocus Pocus", rated PG.
Old Metairie Garden Club was founded by Carmen Waring in late 2017 with the intent to cultivate a sense of community through events, as well as efforts of beautification of the Old Metairie corridor. Fellow Board Member, Morgan Duhon Rathke, created the MOVIE NIGHT initiative. "I want to give Old Metairie residents and families a chance to relax and enjoy a safe and special night under the stars," mentions Rathke. The powerhouse duo of Waring and Rathke then decided to make the event extra special by sourcing amazing local vendors to provide food and refreshments during the show. Current vendors include: Dat Dog, Infused NOLA, Irvs Consessions (think gourmet popcorn), NOLA Tamales, Sandros Trattoria, Dominoes PIZZA (served at the Old Metairie Garden Club booth), and more! Be sure to arrive early to reserve your spot on the lawn in front of the big screen, and BYOB!
If you are interested in becoming a vendor at MOVIE NIGHT, please email Carmen Waring @ [email protected].
