Executive Publishing Honors Jerry House

Executive Publishing honors Jerry House for his work with Aphesis House.

NASHVILLE, TN, October 11, 2018 /24-7PressRelease/ -- On the desk in his office is a plague with the motivational quote, "When it is too hard to stand, KNEEL."

That quote is reflective of Jerry House's life and those he serve in his capacity as Assistant Executive Director at Aphesis House in Nashville, Tennessee.

Aphesis House, a faith-based non-profit organization, works with men to help them overcome years of incarceration, addiction and homelessness. The organization takes a 'holistic approach that is designed to provide for the basic needs of residents while also offering personal and professional development services designed to empower them to transition into lives of dignity, self-sufficiency, and reconciliation.'

Jerry House first came to Aphesis House as a client after serving thirteen years in prison. After successfully completing the program he went to work for the organization serving as counselor and case manager for more than six years. He now serves as Assistant Executive Director and is responsible for client assessment, counseling, treatment planning, intake, and policy administration.

Jerry is committed to his work at Aphesis House and makes sure his face is the first one clients see when they enroll in the program and the last one they see when they leave to begin their lives as productive members of the community.

Jerry is both an advocate for the residents of Aphesis House and a leader that they can look up to. Having gone through the program himself and knowing first-hand what his clients are facing, make him uniquely qualified to provide the hope and encouragement the men need to successfully complete the program, which includes job readiness, job retention and financial literacy.

Jerry House graduated from Middle Tennessee State University in 1966 and received a Bachelor of Science degree in music education. He then attended the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary where he studied church music and religious education from 1966 to 1968. In 1975 he returned to Middle Tennessee State University and in 1978 received a Master of Science degree in psychology with an emphasis in counseling.

Jerry is respected for his work at Aphesis House and in 2015 was a finalist for the Erie Chapman Foundation Servant's Heart Award, an award that was "created to recognize individuals who are providing care and/or assistance to the clients of a nonprofit agency and who are on the 'first line of caregiving' of the service profession."
