BLOOMINGTON, IL, October 24, 2018 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marlene Gregor loves her community and is very active in projects and events that support the city of Bloomington, Illinois culturally and economically.
She happily gives of her time for endeavors and undertakings that benefit the City of Bloomington and has served on the city's Citizen's Beautification Committee. The role of the committee is to advise the Mayor, City Council, City Manager, and other city officials on projects involving beautification of the city including projects such as updating parking lots, landscaping, signage and historic preservation.
She is an ardent supporter of the Illinois Symphony Orchestra and has served as a volunteer with the Symphony Guild Bloomington-Normal in several capacities for many years. From 2001 to 2013 she was a member of the board of directors. She has also served as vice president of development, organized fundraisers for the symphony orchestra and has chaired or co-chaired several special events.
Marlene Gregor is the owner and manager of the Harold Gregor Gallery, a showroom for landscape paintings by her late husband and nationally recognized artist, Dr. Harold Gregor. She is an enthusiastic supporter of the arts and of students studying art. Together, she and Harold established the Harold and Marlene Gregor Endowment Fund to provide transportation and admission fees so students enrolled in Illinois State University College of Fine Arts are able to visit museums and art galleries.
Gregor has always enjoyed working with children. In 1991 she retired from Prairie Central Schools in Fairbury, Illinois where she was a primary teacher for 25 years.
She has a bachelor's degree in elementary education from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She completed her graduate studies at Illinois State University and received a master's degree in elementary education in 1974.
Marlene Gregor lives in Bloomington, Illinois and is known throughout the Bloomington-Normal area for her community service. In 1999 she was honored with the Woman of Distinction in Arts and Entertainment Award by the McLean County YWCA.
