CHICAGO, IL, October 28, 2018 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Americans who are eligible to vote do not make it to the polls in the same proportion as voters do in other democratic countries partly because election day is not a national holiday in the U.S. and partly because many Americans work far from the precincts where they must cast ballots.
After deciding to close his digital agency Be Found Online for Election Day in 2016, Dan started EmployersForVTO.org to encourage more businesses to close and offer "voter time off" in addition to offering paid volunteer days. The movement drew the attention of The Washington Post, The Houston Chronicle and Forbes.com. In 2018, he decided to join forces with the team at Vote.org to help get more companies to join the movement.
ElectionDay.org is an initiative started in 2018 to remove one of the leading roadblocks to voter participation -- work and school obligations. A project of the 501c3 nonpartisan organization Vote.org, ElectionDay.org supports and celebrate the companies providing paid time off for its employees to vote. To date, 250+ companies of all sizes have led the initiative to make it easier for American workers to make time to celebrate Election Day and get to the polls.
"Voting is among the most important of our rights and responsibilities as American citizens," said Dan Golden, Ambassador and Marketing Adviser to ElectionDay.org. "Businesses can use flex time or even allow workers to work from home on election day so that they can make it to the polls," said Golden.
In his new role, Golden will be helping to create strategic marketing plans to get more businesses to embrace the project. "I'm passionate about this project because it's the right thing to do to give voters every opportunity to exercise their right to cast a ballot," said Golden.
"We're very happy that Dan will be lending his expertise to ElectionDay.org's PR & marketing efforts," said Collette Kessler, Director of Partnerships at Vote.org.
