BOCA RATON, FL, November 17, 2018 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Over the years, Greg Fishman has continued to do good work in his local community of Florida, providing donations and assistance to various programs in the region. Most recently, Greg provided a gift to the Dance Marathon of the UF Health Shands Children's Hospital, a program that raises funds for critically ill children.
Dance Marathon at UF is one of the first founding Dance Marathon programs in the United States, having raised over $15.2 million for the kids at UF Health Shands Children's Hospital. The program is the most successful student-run philanthropy in the southeastern section of the US and is currently in its 24th year.
This year alone, the Dance Marathon has been able to raise over $3 million and wants to make 2019 an even bigger year. Greg's support helps to promote the year-long campaign that works to provide vital resources for children at the hospital. Greg continues to provide help for UF Shands Hospital so that kids, as well as students, can plan and encourage their community to send in donations for the critically ill.
Greg's goal is to help students understand that giving has value. Not only is a monetary donation helpful, but the process of fundraising and helping others helps to build love and compassion towards those in need. The students working with the Dance Marathon get to learn how to help others, watching as the funds are used to help struggling families who have children at the hospital, battling devastating illnesses.
It can be quite traumatic to watch as your child fights a debilitating disease. Medication and treatment can be expensive, with most families struggling to cover expenses. With such programs as Dance Marathon and help from individuals like Greg Fishman, families receive the help they need, able to focus more on their children rather than the financial strain that a sickness can create.
