On "Giving Tuesday", an international day of giving set for November 27, Dress for Success will leverage the psychology of wardrobe and human behavior with its #DFSPowerPiece campaign.
NEW YORK, NY, November 20, 2018 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Did you know that clothing influences a number of factors contributing to overall well-being including mood, health and also confidence? According to a HuffPost article that referred to studies and interviewed experts on the topic, people who 'dress up' feel not only more confident, but also more powerful and with higher levels of self-esteem.
Dress for Success (www.DressForSuccess.org), an international not-for-profit organization that empowers women to achieve economic independence, has successfully tapped into this knowledge for 20+ years, serving over 1 million women across the globe. On "Giving Tuesday", an international day of giving set for November 27, Dress for Success will leverage the psychology of wardrobe and human behavior with its #DFSPowerPiece campaign. The #DFSPowerPiece campaign underscores how a "Power Piece" can enhance and build up a woman's confidence within the professional world.
Dress for Success has created a microsite, dfspowerpiece.org that features Dress for Success clients modeling "Power Pieces" from the Success Collection, which includes wardrobe and makeup items selected by Signature and Collection Partners of Dress for Success. The Partners are:
Altuzarra
Bruno Magli
Christian Dior Makeup
Peruvian Connection
Project Gravitas
Rent the Runway
Sorel
Wander Beauty
A portion of the proceeds from purchases of items from the curated Success Collection on "Giving Tuesday" will be donated to Dress for Success. The #DFSPowerPiece campaign also encourages donations to Dress for Success to support its global work in women's economic empowerment.
"It's extremely inspiring to see how much energy and confidence our clients garner from their first experience with Dress for Success, when they see themselves in a new light," says Joi Gordon, Chief Executive Officer of Dress for Success Worldwide. "This confidence is critically important for women who are entering or re-entering the workforce. It is the first step to securing that job and putting a woman on a path to financial stability. The additional programs we will be able to provide with the proceeds from our #DFSPowerPiece campaign - from both Success Collection sales and donations - will allow us to assist more women in their drive for long-term economic independence."
Celebrated designer Michael Costello, who has styled Beyoncé, Jennifer Lopez and Britney Spears, served as stylist for the Dress for Success clients featured on the micro-site. "I loved working with each of these women to help highlight their beauty, style and professional presence," says Costello. "As a designer, I know that clothing makes a statement and, when done right, can empower a person to act with greater confidence and self-assurance."
"Visit our microsite, dfspowerpiece.org today and all days up to and including November 27th and make a purchase or donate to support Dress for Success," encourages Gordon. "Remember that buying a #DFSPowerPiece on Giving Tuesday makes a direct contribution to women realizing their fullest potential."
