"We want to send a lifeline to those youth who are working hardest to stay afloat," Founding Attorney David Bressman. "We want to send a message of hope to youth who suffer from severe head trauma."
DUBLIN, OH, January 16, 2019 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Bressman Law has opened the submission process for students wanting to apply for the firm's Traumatic Brain Injury Scholarship. Now in its fifth year, this program presents $1,000 to a student able to demonstrate perseverance through the challenges of severe head trauma.
"These injuries are a leading cause of death and disability in our country, and according to BrainLine there are more cases of traumatic brain injury than cases of breast cancer, HIV and AIDS, spinal cord injury injuries, and multiple sclerosis combined," said David Bressman, founding partner at Bressman Law.
Developed to encourage youth to push adversity and strive for their dreams, the Traumatic Brain Injury Scholarship is to be used exclusively for higher education tuition and related expenses.
"BrainLine asked their readers to share their personal definitions of TBI, and one person said it's 'like being under a constant waterfall,' where the patient is just doing his or her best to breathe…to not drown," Bressman said.
"We want to send a lifeline to those youth who are working hardest to stay afloat. We want to send a message of hope to youth who suffer from severe head trauma."
To qualify, applicants must submit their scholarship application packages, including a completed Scholarship Application Form and typed essay, by December 15, 2019. A complete list of scholarship application package requirements can be found on the Bressman Law website.
In keeping with the law firm's intention to increase public awareness of traumatic brain injuries, applicants are asked to write an essay about their personal experiences: how they received their severe head trauma, how the injuries changed their lives, the ensuing challenges, and how the applicants have overcome those challenges.
To be considered for the scholarship, students must currently be enrolled at or accepted to an accredited college or university in the U.S. and be able to claim a cumulative minimum 3.0 grade point average (GPA). The firm also requires documentation of the severe head trauma diagnosis provided by a licensed healthcare professional.
