Porterfield has more than twenty years of experience in progressive Human Resources Leadership, which offers a distinct vantage point, and inside track to company culture and its inner workings. With a firm passion for company culture, Melisa has turned her more than two decades of progressive HR leadership experience into a new venture. Throughout her career, she's held roles which range from Training Manager to VP of People and Culture. This year, Porterfield is anticipated to speak at a number of exciting and influential events.
Later this month, she will take part in the DisruptHR Houston Conference on February 28th, whose purpose is to shake things up in the Human Resources climate, and encourage a different way of thinking about ordinary HR issues. The conference is an information exchange created to empower, inform, and energize executives, business people, and leaders in the HR field. Location of the event will be at Rockefeller's, 3620 Washington Avenue, Houston, Texas.
Ms. Porterfield will also speak for UH Small Business Development Center on April 16th from 10:00-12:00pm (CST) to discuss the topic, "Building Your Company Culture." Porterfield will highlight the definitions of culture, setting the company's vision, choosing values which resonate amongst others, and much more. The event will be held at UH Bauer College SBDC, 2302 Fannin St., Suite 200, Houston, Texas.
On May 15-17, Porterfield will also speak at The Gulf Coast Symposium for HR issues. The event will be organized by the HR Houston and will be held at the NRG Center in Houston. The conference will cover areas such as Talent Management, Leadership & Professional Development, International HR, Employee & Labor Relations, as well as Business Management & Strategy.
With speaking engagements coming in at a rapid-fire pace, Porterfield has also agreed to speak for SHRM (The Society of Human Resources Management) about company culture. The workshop will be on September 26th in Corpus Christie, TX.
Earlier this month, Ms. Porterfield was accepted into the SURE Entrepreneurship program through the University of Houston's business school. SURE offers an educational platform which facilitates a value-added partnership amongst entrepreneurs, industry experts, and UH students from under-resourced communities. The program runs the entire semester.
Apart from facilitating different events and conferences this year, Melissa will also do a podcast for Wonder Women, an online radio program which tells the stories of inspirational and motivating women in history.
