"My art strives to create a dreamlike world that is made vivid and real because of the amount of detail I put into it." Jerod DTOX Davies, Muralist and Street Artist
FORT WORTH, TX, March 12, 2019 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Several of America's top spray can artists are coming to FW to compete for a cash prize at the Second Annual Graffiti Art Festival that will be held in the Fort Worth Design District at 1953 Golden Heights Road on Saturday, March 16, 2019, from 11 am to 4 pm.
Each artist will create a billboard-sized art piece with an inspirational, family-friendly theme. The artists' canvasses will be shipping containers that are part of Box Office Warehouse Suites, the innovative business park at the center of the design district.
Street Artist and Muralist Jerod DTOX Davies is one of the three artists selected to compete for the cash prize. Davies grew up in a family of artists. His mother was a portrait artist and art restorer. His father was an interior designer. He grew up idolizing an uncle who was a cartoonist. "I grew up in a family whose members were always creating and working with our hands," said Davies.
He and his two professional artist brothers frequently collaborate on murals. "Each of us has a distinctive style but we all of share elements that make it easy to see that a mural or a piece of street art was done by one of the Davies brothers," he said. Those interested in a behind-the-scenes look at Jerod DTOX Davies' work can follow him on Instagram @dtoxart or visit his online portfolio at www.TheJerod.com.
"My art strives to create a dreamlike world that is made vivid and real because of the amount of detail I put into it," said the Dallas-based artist whose current projects include finishing large-scale collage pieces for a show called Astrologic. "I am working toward completing a project that has been a decade in the making by this coming October," said Davies.
In addition to this work, Davies also provides solutions to persons seeking guidance in executing an artistic vision, as owner of DTOX Art, a creative solutions company that assists with projects as diverse as mobile installations for museums, backdrops for plays and restoration of heirlooms.
"We're thrilled to have one of the best-known street artists in Dallas competing this year," said Jim Eaton, VP of RDS Real Estate, the developer of the new Fort Worth Design District. In addition to the contest, the event will include arts and crafts vendors, food trucks and music.
Festival attendees can also do the Snap and Share Art Walk, a series of interactive murals that are ideal for snapping selfies or other photos to share. Couples on the art walk will want to visit the Love Locks mural where adding a lock to the display is part of the fun.
Visitors to the festival can also take free tours of Ft Worth business spaces for lease at Box Office Warehouse Suites, the innovative eco friendly shipping container business park and shop at the retailers who have shops in the district.
Sponsors will be raffling prizes throughout the event, including a one-hour Lamborghini Driving experience donated by Sponsor Fort Worth Car Storage. Admission to the event is free.
The event is dog friendly. Those bringing a furry friend will want to visit the Golden Triangle Dog Park that is part of the new design district.
